Cal Senior Martin Maric wins NCAA Discus Title
Senior Martin Maric won the 2009 NCAA title in the men's discus Saturday in the final day of the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Saturday's performance caps off a tremendous finish to Maric's collegiate career. The 2008 Croatian Olympian ends his senior campaign with a national and a regional championship.
Maric posted a mark of 196-3 (59.82m) to win the title. He won the competition on his last throw, moving from third to first. Arizona State's Ryan Whiting came in second with a throw of 196-2. For the second straight year, Maric has earned All-America honors.
