Adding the Bear Insider summary of the scrimmage
Some notes that are worth looking at; Marvin Jones:
Jones, who missed part of his freshman year with a knee injury, says he’s back to full strength.
"I feel like right now I’m better than I was before the injury," said Jones, who had one catch for eight yards, after having an impressive fall camp last year. "While I was injured, I sat out, but I was watching the game and gaining experience. When I came back I had to work on my conditioning, running and planting, but now I’m back at 100%."
The Cal defense:
As the Bears defense grows with its comfort with the 3-4, they’re able to become much more creative with how they use the front seven. Against UCLA last year, the Bears gave a hint of this when for a couple of plays they used a 1-5-5 with one lineman, five linebackers and five defensive backs, deploying them in such a way that the Bruins couldn’t tell who was coming and who was going.
And Jahvid Best:
Tailback Jahvid Best, who’s spent much of spring on a stationary bicycle during practice, is now starting to run. He’s using a non-weight-bearing treadmill called an Alter-G, which allows him to adjust the percentage of weight that he runs on.
The Alter-G, which runs between $55,000 and $75,000, uses anti-gravity technology which uses air pressure to offset body weight which allows people to run using 20% of their body weight.
Alter-G? Isn’t he that schizophrenic rapper from Richmond?

Man
I wish I had been able to work yesterday. I was really interested to see how this first scrimmage went. I’m pretty surprised to hear about Tad’s shoulder. We all saw he was hurt, but Anger and the other HydroTechs thought it was dislocated rather than broken. That is a really gruesome injury.
Alright, fine, I admit it! "Hydration Technician" really DOES just mean "water boy!"
Did anything you saw in practice play out on the scrimmage reports (i.e. a player excelling, etc.)?

Could be, although he tapered off at the end. It’s like the reverse of his performances the past season and a half.
