Final Four Open Thread

Michigan St vs Connecticut: 6:07 PM EST, 3:07 PM PST

Villanova vs North Carolina: 8:47 PM EST, 5:47 PM PST

I'm not sure how much any of you care about college basketball now that we've reached the end (my UConn to win it all bet should go down in flames to the power of the Izzo), so let's just go straight to the CGB Bracket analysis

There are four scenarios now, and most of them favor the very modest yet aptly named "i'm the best bracket maker". Only three winners are possible now.

Villanova or North Carolina wins it all: No one picked Villanova to win it all, so if the Wildcats manage to win the tournament, best bracket maker takes home the prize. Best bracket maker also took North Carolina to win it all, so obviously if the Tar Heels win the prize, then he still goes away with it.

Ohio Bear and gigglingone would finish 2nd and 3rd respectively if Villanova beat UConn; the Valiant Carpetbaggers and sixteen would finish 2nd and 3rd respectively if Villanova beat Michigan State. Joffle and Ohio Bear finish tied for 2nd if UNC beats MSU, Ohio Bear and Beast Mode would finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Michigan State wins it all: The Valiant Carpetbaggers, who has flown under the radar the entire tournament and are currently floating in a tie for eleventh, would be your winner. He is the person with the highest score who picked the wizard Izzo. Regardless of who they beat for the title, the two other people who picked Michigan State to win it all would also finish 2nd and 3rd, i.e. CALumbus Bear and Air Ball respectively.

Connecticut wins it all: Your winner is gigglingone, who picked the Huskies and has the highest standings among those who do. Three-O and Chowder would finish 2nd and 3rd if UConn beat Villanova in the title game. If UConn beat UNC, Chowder and Happy finish 2nd and 3rd respectively.

So the winner of Michigan State-UConn is essentially a battle royale between the Valiant Carpetbaggers and gigglingone for the rights to face of with the best bracket maker for all the marbles next week. Good luck to all. Especially gigglingone.

I am rooting for Michigan State, but I think Connecticut will pull it off.

I was just following the Rivals open thread for the football scrimmage:

lots of downfield passing… and beau sweeney loves throwing at quinn tedford =D

seems like it was a pretty even affair with some great drives/stops by both sides… lots of Riley to Anthony Miller too

What football scrimmage? I thought that wasn’t until 4.18?

I believe today’s scrimmage is the first of three scrimmages (each taking place on a Saturday). Only the last one, on April 18th, is open to the public.

Beau’s play politics I see. Also, you’d assume Tedford’s son would be a quarterback.

I'm not sure who to root for..

My entire Final Four and championship bracket is fucked up so I have no rooting interest…

In other words, Go Bears!

Stupid Spartans.

Looks like Valiant Carpetbaggers will be fighting it out Monday night.

all "State" might win the post season tourneys

with the exception of the CIT

NIT == Penn State
CBI == Oregon State
NCAA == Michigan State (possibly)

I know, useless trivia

Maybe California State will win the NCAA next year

North Carolina’s going to win it all. The President is going to make watching sports very boring for the next eight years if he keeps up this run.

Hopefully he comes back in time for conference play. Ladner and Miller have been looking good at practice, right? I thought I remember hearing that despite Smith’s experience, he might be supplanted by either one of the underclassmen.

Anthony Miller has taken the first team reps and has apparently looked good in all facets of the game
