Where Do You Watch the Golden Bears?

You might remember my attempt at creating a map of Golden Bears Meetups. I've been turning the map and the many, many others I created into a sports bars wiki, and am trying to assemble a comprehensive list of worldwide sports bars to make it easier for fans to watch the game. I was wondering what you guys thought of these places or if there are any other places to watch them that I missed.

Where do you guys watch the Golden Bears? Have you been to any of the sports bars of Cal sports? What are your favorite sports bars in general?

Here's the partial list of Cal-friendly bars. You can edit and add to this list by clicking on the link and registering on the wiki, or just add other places you watch them in the comments!

just an fyi for anybody who stops by manhattan and wants to catch a cal game

bj armstrong’s food is shitty. so eat before going.

they do happen to play “fight for california” over the speakers though every time cal scores, so that’s a neat touch.

i'm here to clean your pool but i don't have a pool *bowchica bowow*

BJ’s is an american-food style pub/eatery in California… I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.

I'm Fijian. Yes, the water is like that.

in addition to some of the obvious places in Berkeley

like Bear’s Lair, Henry’s, Raliegh’s and Triple Rock, I’ve also enjoyed watching Cal away games at Royal Exchange in the SF financial district.

usually, however, i’m at the game. especially for football.

So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!

Walnut Creek: McCovey’s Cove (painfully, painfully, PAINFULLY) overpriced.

Stadium Pub – good. But Cal has lost every (EVERY) game I’ve watched here. Potential jinx situation!

The problem is, Cal loses most of its away games. Therefore if everyone thought the bar they watched the game at was jinxed….well there’d be no more bars. Except currently University Chicken in Santa Clara is on my never-eat-at-again list because I watched the 06 Arizona game there.

I'm Fijian. Yes, the water is like that.

You are probably right that my viewing location has little effect on the Cal football team.

However, after watching UCLA 07, ASU 07, and USC 08 there, I’m……hesitant to go back. Plus, they only have 1 dessert. WTF is that?!?!

Er…was that question directed at me? I don’t really know I’ve never been there, but I’d guess something like apple pie? Or cake?

I'm Fijian. Yes, the water is like that.

by Spazzy Mcgee on Mar 8, 2009 7:58 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It was a question directed generally at the concept of only having 1 dessert.

However, when you watch Shopaholic, we’re 1-0 in epic wins. You should watch Shopaholic every game.

Anyone been to any of the LA spots. I fear that the places won’t be good and it’ll be too late to go back home and enjoy the game.

I’m pretty sure someone on here talked about it. SoCalOski?

Looney’s in Berkeley is my go-to joint for watching away games when I’m in Berkeley.

Also, in Foster City, the Crowne Plaza hotel bar is very Cal-friendly. I saw the most recent Holiday Bowl there to good results. Undefeated BABY!

Foster City is in Alaska, right?

No, but Alaska is the Foster City of the Crowne Plaza.

A fresh of breath air.

I like to use your maps to see where the BMPY is located, so that I can meet up with Brock Mansion and his ladies!

Marshawn...if you're reading this...I'll JOIN YOUR POSSE FOR FREE! Dave Chappelle says every group of brothas needs a white dude for safety in case the shit goes down (which it allegedly has with you several times) and someone needs to talk to the pol-ece.

You can create your own map pretty easily. Perhaps we should make that a staple of this site.
