Darian the Barbarian: THE HITTIN’ MACHINE!
Really enjoy looking back at some of the guys who don’t get a lot of lip service from the announcers and media. I think he’s going to be a stud next year (umm… just like this year), and he made some real progress under Al Simmons.
Great track for the vid too =D

I found the Bay Area remix of E-40’s track. Seems like every Bay Area rapper loves rapping about Marshawn. Listen to the lyrics.
No kidding. What the hell? Does he know every East Bay rapper in the area?

There’s a hundred references to ghostriding.

…. But Marshawn didn’t event Ghostriding…
Or DID HE?

I always wondered that myself. The terms Ghostriding and whip (car) were both around… but after ML hit the scene… I heard both terms together in a song… the Cataracs song “Marshawn Lynch”…
This song and this song came out before Marshawn did his thing versus Washington… and they both mention the things we’ve been throwing around

Ghostride the whip
Stutter shakes
Shake them dreads
Show your grill
I can’t be certain, but since this is the Bay Area remix and seeing all four of these factors, one after the other, makes me think he’s referring to ML..
I’m pretty sure these are general rules to follow when Ghostriding

I actually don’t know what that means… but ghostriding the whip… then talking about jooking (stutter shakes) then dreads and showing of the grill…
I don’t know… in the context of a Bay Area remix of a song… sounds like ML to me.
Wow… he is. I always thought he was referring to jooking. I"m going to stop trying to understand rap and just stick with Bollywood music.
You guys are so suburban…..stunner shakes? WTF…….sounds like you’d get that at Jamba Juice……its stunner shades fo shizzle, son….urbanize and recognize
I have a dream today! I have a dream that one day all Bear fans big and small, short and tall......will have the Nyan in them!
LoL, for real, is this the firs time people have heard this song? It IS stunner ("stunna") shades and ghostridin’ was way before ML, but as a Bay boy of course he’d know about it.

The phrase “Ghostride your whip” was invented (i think) by Mac Dre and E-40… both of which are from Vallejo CA… Jahvid’s hometown. Cataracs are from the east bay… and know ML personally and use the phrase in more than a few of their songs includeing “Marshawn Lynch”
Also, how the hell is anyone ever going to pass on us next year? The only way they’ll be able to get any sort of reception would be over the middle (a la Furd’s 9000 TEs)…. Let’s hope our LBs do well in coverage. UNSTOPPABLE

I remember we were having some trouble with certain routes last year, taking bad routes and certain coverages (way earlier CGB post) but if we can improve on these we have the athletes to make it almost impossible to get the passing game going. Also, hope to see a good number of INT this year.

dominance
I don’t see how any team is going to be able to pass against this secondary next year. We’re loaded
I feel like we went from CalBear81to CalBear1017 pretty quick there. I didn’t ever see CalBear82 through CalBear1016.

He was similarly confused when Berkeliums 1-96 never commented before I showed up.

You can’t prove it! If they never commented, how do you even know they exist(ed)?

Awesome!
Love the song selection.
Marshawn...if you're reading this...I'll JOIN YOUR POSSE FOR FREE! Dave Chappelle says every group of brothas needs a white dude for safety in case the shit goes down (which it allegedly has with you several times) and someone needs to talk to the pol-ece.
I like Hagan’s game a lot. He’s got good height (6’), has long arms, and seemed fast enough to cover anyone in the Pac10. Losing Syd next year will hurt, but having Hagan will transition seamlessly.

You're not allowed to actually discuss Hagan on this thread...
…only the origins of certain ebonics terms!!! jk.
Nobody more than me… I’m so thrilled for Hagan cuz I’ve been talking shit about him for about two years now. I even gave him shit after the Michgan State game. He was such a big get for us that I became very impatient at his apparent lack of progress and thought he was a dud. From dud to stud.
Now we really see that he’s the same stud he was in high school… even doing the same dances. (he’s dancing on people’s graves like a jester btw).
That play where he’s covering Jaison Williams and he over extends himself and then closes the gap and swats the ball… that’s all instinct and speed. Very Dante-like.
We already have the best CB combo in the Pac10… but we also got Marc Anthony, Conte, Williams waiting and a pretty damn good group of Decoud-built safeties. Our secondary is in good shape.
Don’t sleep on Vachel Samuels and Alex Logan either… both are big hitters and Samuels may have gotten a 4th-star if he hadn’t been hurt… USC also gave us a serious run for him at the tail end of the recruiting season. The DBs we brought in this year are all PTPers. I wonder how playing time will shake out next year

nice highlights!
thanks Danzig!
gah, even a redneck old guy like me knows ghost riding was not ‘invented by’ mr. Lynch. (However much we think he’s a great player and a funny guy).
