PrintI set up a fantasy baseball league for anyone interested. The information is below. Draft is next Tuesday (04/07/09) at 7:00 PM PST. If anyone has a problem with this time, let me know and we'll see if another day works.
The league is currently set for 14 managers, I can increase that to 20 if there is interest. I'm using the standard yahoo settings right now. I assume that people want Head to Head (more trash talk), any thoughts on maximum roster moves, how big we want playoffs, etc?

The only thing I would add is:
Don’t decide to sign up and play if you think you may stop participating after a week or two. That’s just irksome.
As for settings, just make sure there isn’t any abusing of closers. I don’t know if that stuff still happens since I haven’t played in awhile.

every once in awhile, some guy will draft the top 6 closers and DOMINATE the league.

If you draft the top 6 closers, you’ll dominate saves and not much else.

that’s essentially giving you 6 “runs/points/wins” over your opponent. Can’t guarantee 6 anythings with any other position in this game.

The general solution to this problem is to have an innings pitched requirement so that a team can’t load up on relievers. If they don’t get enough innings they automatically get last in certain pitching categories (typically ERA and WHIP)

Just hoping to make baseball interesting to me again. That said, I’ve never done fantasy baseball before so if I finish anywhere but last place, you guys totally suck.

…will I be the Padres? Cuz I have to auto-draft and I don’t want to be the Padres.
If you auto-draft, not only will you be the Padres, but you’ll also be the Montreal Expos and the Pittsburgh Pirates. And you’ll be declared Sanchez.

Prior commitments, I often have them. I’m willing to auto-draft and make the best of it if it isn’t a completely worthless venture. Just tell me yes or no.
If we change the draft day could you be there? Or is the kind of previous commitments that mean you’d rather autodraft and not put up with us making comments and talking trash for a few hours?

Busy, and often busy in the eves and weekends so scheduling with me can be a pisser. I think I’ll join and auto-draft and then beat several of you with my AstroPadres. That would be my preferred solution to this conundrum unless you object.

Not sure about doing this. I’ve played fantasy baseball before, but I’m still going to be at work at 7.
Alright, fine, I admit it! "Hydration Technician" really DOES just mean "water boy!"
The only nights that don’t work for me are Monday and Wednesday (I teach in the evenings and a class I’m teaching starts this monday).

no, actually, it isn’t. The sense-of-humor instructors are the best.
It’s nice you don’t have to give exams, grade papers, etc. It’s hard for me to gauge how hard to make the course.

I’ve included what’s currently included and bolded the categories that I absolutely thinks should be included. I’ve also struck through the categories that I think should be taken out. Let me know if this is too confusing.
