Cal's Christopher to see if he's NBA material
Some of you may have already seen this, but here's a pretty interesting read about PC deciding to test the draft waters. I think its a good opportunity for him to work out in a lot of the pre-draft camps, but all signs point towards him coming back for his senior season. After fouling out with 10pts and a poor shooting performance yesterday and just not being NBA ready period, we should see him back unless he gets a first round guarantee (unlikely).
On another note, Jerome and Theo sound like they'll be back (I don't see why not) and Jamal and DJ Seeley quiet any rumors (which I had never heard before) that they might be transferring.
Also some tidbits on Harper Kamp's knee...

“It’s my junior year, so it’s kind of a free year to do it,” the 6-foot-5 All-Pac-10 player said.
Yeah, nothing to worry about here. More than anything, this is just a chance for Christopher to see how far he really has to improve in his senior year if he wants to be drafted.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
If you can get picked in the first round this year (not saying he can) it really is a good time to make some money before the very very lockout in 2011. Just saying this considering has to be in there for anyone with NBA talent right now.
This is also the worst draft class in memory. I totally see him coming back, because a good senior year could bump him up a lot. Also, I don’t think next year’s draft class is much better.
Why on Earth would Boykin transfer again?
I really doubt that whoever started the rumor had any idea what they were talking about.

Seriously
who the hell started these rumors? The Boykin one especially makes no sense.
Heh
He’d lose his remaining year of eligibility by transferring… you only get one redshirt season.
Laughable.

Everyone will say, "He should have passed the ball"

Christopher is a good college player
He can shoot pretty darn well and he can leap with the best. But he is not super quick with his footwork (eg: lateral movement) and therefore can’t take people off the dribble drive and also has trouble defending quickness. That means he’ll be back next year and we get to enjoy him again.
Speaking of footwork and quickness, he’s got an odd gait and I don’t know how that gets improved. What’s up with that, btw?
Christopher = Poor Man's Rip Hamilton?
I’ve been thinking about this lately and when I watch the two of them, I come up with this comparison. I think Hamilton is a much better pure shooter and Christopher is a better leaper/dunker, but for some reason they seem to have similar games. Though he also reminds me a bit of the Warriors own Kelenna Azubuike…
In the NBA I can see PC being successful if he works a bit more on his shot and works on moving without the ball and coming off screens for his shots like Rip Hamilton…
Hamilton has the best mid-range game of anyone in the league. He’s much faster than Christopher and can shoot at an amazing clip at 15 feet. Azubuike sounds a little bit closer to his game.
No offense but that’s really not a great comparison. Their games are pretty different – RIP is much longer, skinnier and crafty with his body – he’s a poor man’s Reggie Miller (except lives on the midrange instead of the 3). RIP moves unbelieveably well without the ball, his basketball IQ off the ball is fantastic, he’s a much better defender.
PC on the other hand doesn’t move that well off the ball (sometimes he’ll look like he’s better at it than he is because they run set plays to get him an ‘oop or backdoor), doesn’t have the same body type to play D, and is much more of a spot up shooter (and I don’t trust him dribbling in traffic in the middle of the key). PC also doesn’t have the same type of long, smooth athleticism RIP has.
That said I don’t want to make PC sound bad, he’s a good college player, certainly deserving of All Pac-10. He still has a long way to go to make the NBA, but hopefully these workouts help him understand what he needs to work on, and how much more work he has to do, and with Monty to coach him he has the potential, so we’ll see. I actually think the Azubuike comparison is pretty good in terms of their style.
