Pac 10 Hoops down the stretch. Vying for NCAA's, Seeds.

With 5 games to go (4 for Washington), I am looking at the schedule and wondering how Cal and the rest of the Pac-10 Contenders are going to finish up.

Our Bears appear to have the most difficult schedule remaining. Yes, they are only 1/2 game out of first place (a team they swept head to head), however, they are also only a half game out of fifth place. Further, they have already lost to the teams they play in the next 3 games, and will be playing tough Arizona teams on the road to finish up. Meanwhile, dreaded UCLA appears to have the easiest finishing path to a Pac-10 crown.

Contenders, Conf Record, Games Remaining:

Washington 10-4   at usc, ASU, AU, WSU, -
Arizona St.   9-4    AU, at uw, at wsu, STANF, CAL
UCLA           9-4    WSU, at stanf, at cal, OSU, OREGON
California     9-4    at osu, USC, UCLA, at au, at asu
Arizona        9-5    at asu, at wsu, at uw, CAL, STANFORD
USC            7-6    UW, at cal, at stanf, OREGON, OSU

Thanks for playing:

OregonSt.   6-8
Wash St.     5-9
Stanford      4-9
Oregon       0-14

For Pac-10 basketball fans, this will surely be the most exciting wrap up to conference play we've seen in a long time!  Will Oregon be able to get a win? Possibly at home tomorrow vs. Stanford or at home vs. OSU, but likely not down in LA. Arizona is charging hard down the stretch. And don't count USC out of it just yet. Like UCLA, they have relatively easy games left on the schedule. For Cal, with those 4 tough games to close, they'd better take care of business in Corvalis tomorrow. Otherwise, the floor could drop out on what's been a great season so far.

Random Note: Who else heard the Oregon announcer in last night's game say Cal would be a "Final Four-like team" next year when all our guys are seniors?

Be nice. You can find the original CGB team at WriteForCalifornia.com.
