Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

2002 Non-Conference highlights from Jeff Tedford's first season.

Originally from the "March to Victory: California Football 2002-2004" DVD. For those still upset from Saturday, here are some memories of a simpler time.

I'll upload more later on.

Considering our stress and angst foisted upon him I’m not surprised.

Just needs to work out a bit and fit off that inner Mark Mangino trying to grow in his midsection.

I’m laughing at the shots of the stands in Memorial.

I remember very distinctly watching both the Baylor and Mich. St. game fondly. Michigan St. is up there on the list of Tedford game that left me feeling thrilled for a whole week.

The Baylor game really got me hyped because I was feeling mighty low after the Holmoe error. I think there were about 30,000 at the Baylor game, but when I saw the Bears play on ESPN against MSU, I knew that we had the right coach.

Why do those 2002-2004 teams seem so much better than our more recent teams?

It’s just remembering the good and ignoring the bad on my part right?

Yeah, they don’t show much of the lowlights of those teams.

Also, beaten down expectations.

Michigan State game

I was a first year associate and watched the game with one of the firm’s partners, a Michigan State grad. He mentioned before the game started that he was buying that day since tears would be flowing into my Bloody Mary after Michigan State got through with us.

In retrospect, that was the only day I recall said partner being speechless.

Thanks for posting the video.

Sorry about the lame black borders on the embedded one here, btw. If you view the video from the YouTube site it appears in full screen. My computer is a native 1680×1050, so I’m pretty much stuck with exporting videos with widescreen settings or they will have those borders no matter where you view them.

I'll do that.

The second one needs to be recompiled anyway. YouTube doesn’t want it uploaded for some reason.

Thanks Twist. I’ve got 2003 and ’04 highlights as well.

Well, he accomplished that in two years. Pretty freaking amazing actually.

Ahh, the August days of the early Tedford Era. I don’t think we’re any worse, I just think the Pac-10 has gotten (almost) universally good.

That play at the beginning of the Baylor game is still one of the most beautiful trick plays ever.

If only we had another left-handed running back that could throw.
