I don’t think he should be banned. He’s overly negative, yeah, but I still think he should be allowed to post and comment even if nobody really agrees.

I think his commentary takes away from the otherwise fun in-game community. I fully support the mods’ decision to silence a grating-at-best voice. And, I’ll kick in for napalm-ing his house or IP provider if USAF can hook us up.

You can use MSG as being missed

But, really there’s no excuse for the way the Bears have been playing. I wouldn’t put it directly on the offensive line I would put it directly on the playcalling.

Too many throws on first down especially since Vereen is what really helped the offense against Stanford and it also eats clock and keeps the defense on the sideline.

Plays would be working of we could retain the line.

by Thoroughbred on Dec 5, 2009 5:15 PM PST up reply actions

6th place?

How’s that? If Cal loses, we are 5-4 in the conference, tied with USC. Sure, the Trojans killed us, but there’s no tiebreaker for fith. The Vegas Bowl would take USC because they’re USC, not because they beat us.

by bear88 on Dec 5, 2009 5:18 PM PST up reply actions

Sixth Place

Oregon (8-1), Oregon State (6-3), Arizona (6-3), Stanford (6-3), USC (5-4) and California (5-4) would be the final standings.

Tie

USC wins it.

The Ultimate Opportunist

by Rated-R Superstar on Dec 5, 2009 5:25 PM PST up reply actions

You're making up tiebreakers that don't exist

USC doesn’t “win” the tiebreaker because they beat us. There’s no such thing as a tiebreaker for fifth place.

They would go to the Vegas Bowl because the Vegas Bowl committee would rather have USC than us. They don’t care about anything else.

Let's be honest about this

It would be a disappointment to lose this game, but I don’t really care all that much. It’s weird to play this game in December, two weeks after the regular season should end. For Washington, it’s their bowl game, probably Locker’s last game as a Huskie. They have a reason to play well. We have some complicated, political second-tier bowl game argument.

We didn’t get shelled three times already this season for no reason. Washington is almost always tough at home, even with the stadium only partially-full. It’s not like we haven’t played like crap before.

defense exposed?

Or asleep, not sure which. Not swarming, bad angles, out of position. Coaching must reasonably be considered at this point because it’s a weekly question mark on fundamentals. We have the athletes; what’s left is the mental game. That’s coaching. Important stop just now, but it’s an inconsistent effort. Offense, I can’t figure what the problem is yet with the line. I want to do stats on them next year, if I have time. C’mon Bears.

I don't know

I don’t often buy into that starring program for HS recruits, if that’s what you mean. HS differences make it too complex to be consistent. I’d say Cal athletes are above average. Not all are top tier, but most are above average.

Watched us play decent man coverage against USC, which is more about athleticism, but losing the game in linebacker pass coverage, which is more about positioning and reaction. That is to say, coaching.
