Still in recovery. Had friends on the sidelines and said after the game the Cal fans were way louder than the ’Furd fans! Gooooooooooooooo Bears!!!

I don’t hate Tiger, but if you’re going to stand up at halftime of the Big Game and say anything nice about Stanfurd at all, I’m going to boo you. Deal with it.
More importantly, why were all the ’Furd fans so quiet? They were at least half the stadium, I think.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!

Stanfurd alumnus? Check.
Stanfurd outfit? Check
Saying nice things about Stanfurd? Check. Commence booing.

I actually don’t think that first item is a “check”.

Oh, err...
Lets pretend instead of “alumnus” I wrote “attendee.”
I also realize now that I left off the important steps of “???” and “PROFIT.”

Oh, that’s OK. I’m sure Tiger credits the two years of undergraduate education he received on The Farm for all the years of success that he’s had since then.

Damn right I can boo Tiger Woods. If he can’t handle boos from fans of his collegiate rival then he can soak his wimpy cheers in a million dollar bill. Boo friggin hoo.

Booing that drop out was a great decision by Cal fans….
Glad we have a YouTube clip of it now…
Shame on those dip shit furdies that thought it’d be a good idea to induct Tiger during the Big Game, if you want to honor your favorite (drop-out) son, do it during a meaningless non-conf. game where the opponent fans will applaud for him too… Not during the Big Game, that insult lies entirely on the furdy president who thought Cal fans would agree with Tiger’s induction…. Especially in OUR house (well it eventually became our house)

Homecoming halftime
They did the presentation of the Sears Cup, or Learfield Cup, or whatever it’s called now, at halftime of the ASU Game, which was Stanford’s Homecoming. They had the 14 previous cups lined up in the stadium, too, and invited all of last year’s letter winners onto the field.

In comparison, the Navy-Air team that did the fly over (I believe they were the Scorpions) got cheered by everyone! So, yet another insult to Tiger.

I'm not playing with you, T-bred!

The Scorpions weren’t Stanfurdites. At least that we know of.

Those Navy guys walked and waved until they reached the Axe and then posed for a picture with it. They watched the remainder of the game with Oskie, the Rally Committee and the Axe.
Made a statement IMO. I booed Dr. Urkel/Mr.Cool with no hesitation whatsoever.

This is pretty fantastic, although Cal fans in attendance should be glad they didn’t get a driver chucked at their heads…Tiger doesn’t seem to take adversity so well.

I know I will be in a minority of one here, but I actually despise Tiger Woods. Not so much as a person (since I don’t know him), but as a golfer, personality, and public figure.
What is there to like about this guy? He makes a putt and then starts to puff and strut and do that insipid fist pump thing as if he had just defeated Hitler single handedly! From almost the very beginning Nike had branded this guy and over exposed him. I see his face everywhere, and it’s like he’s being thrust down our gullets as some sort of deity, or like he was the Glorious Leader of some communist dictatorship. It all started with his dad and the shameless promotion and pimping of this kid.
I’ve been sick of him since day one. When one of his commercials come on, I change the channel. I actively (well, as actively as one can) root for any golfer who is playing him. His year off for physical reasons was a godsend, as I didn’t have to be inundated with any Tiger iconography or verbal masturbation during that time. And seeing that stupid look of incomprehension on his face as the boos drowned out the feeble cheers during his “speech” was priceless. I thought he would either cry, or (in more Furd fashion) throw a tantrum demanding that all the Cal fans be thrown out of the statdium!
Go away, Tiger. And take your Furd attitude and gear with you.

I don’t know if my feelings are as strong as yours, SoCal, but I agree that Tiger is not a very likable golfer to watch. He’s amazing, no question about that. And when he’s on his game, he is truly the best to ever play, maybe even the best to ever play any sport. Better than the Babe in baseball, the Great One in hockey, Schumi in F1, Pele in soccer, MJ in basketball, and so on. At least I think one could make that case.
But watching a guy methodically dominate gets pretty old, pretty quickly. It’s not his fault, but that’s just the way it is. Here’s where Tiger really seems to fail, though. When he is struggling, when he appears to be more human, he has a tendency to implode and melt down in a not very appealing quiet tantrum. This is one of the reasons Mickelson is so popular as the anti-Tiger. That guy is always scrambling, or so it seems, and will pull out a win even when not playing his best.
I’m a cycling fan more than a golf fan, and Tiger strikes me very much like Lance Armstrong. How can anyone hate the great cancer survivor one might ask? But a lot of serious cycling fans do, here in the States, as well as in France. Again, it has a lot to do with Lance being too dominant for the sake of his own likability. Especially in cycling—although golf, too—we fans like to see our heroes suffer. We generally don’t want it to seem easy. This is why Lance was at his most likable in 2004, when he won the Tour by the slimmest of margins and showed real signs of vulnerability along the way, and then again last year in his impressive post-retirement comeback. Jack Nicklaus became a more likable golfer as he got older and the wins became less frequent. I expect Tiger will likewise become more likable after age 40 as well. And it’s never too late for him to transfer to Cal and earn a degree that stands for something more than entitlement and financial gain.

I kind of see your point, though I don’t think I share it as my cause for my Tiger dislike.
I can grant you that he is a dominant golfer – and may be the best ever. But I never had a problem with other dominating players in other sports. A player who is so good they never seem to have to struggle isn’t something that bugs me. What bugs me is how this cult of Tiger developed, and how fast it developed. It’s the Nike-Gatorade packaging and branding of him, and the fact that you can not go anywhere without seeing his smug face. All of the hype and the Tiger propaganda seems designed almost to make one feel obligated to praise him as some sort of savior — something his dad was advocating. And it’s almost as if anyone who dares not prostrate themselves at the feet of the Great and Powerful Tiger risks becoming a social pariah, close to suffering exile to the northern waste of Greenland.
And that is why the booing and Tiger’s petulant expression were so deeply satisfying (for me, anyway). It was a way of reaffirming that he’s just an arrogant and annoying prick (as one can deduce for themselves from any of Eldrick’s interviews), and that booing him is okay.
Having that guy transfer into Cal to finish his degree would suck. And I doubt very much that Tiger will be more likable post 40. I expect him to be be even more insufferable.

Honestly? That's how the A-type athletes are.
Pretty much all of the mega-focused, once-in-a-generation athletes are like that. It’s something about that hyper-focused, ultra-competitive spirit that makes you that way. They’re the best and they know it. They demand nothing less than perfection from themselves, and annoy their teammates when they demand it of the people around them. They have that killer instinct – they don’t just want to beat you, they want to dominate you – and when they lose, or compete poorly, they do NOT take it well. They don’t care about popularity – whether the fans love them or hate them, they will WIN. They’re also the ones who raise their game to a level never before seen in at least a generation.
1) Michael Jordan
2) Tiger Woods
3) Kobe Bryant
4) Lance Armstrong
5) ???
6) PROFIT!!
I don’t know my sports history too well, but I’m sure there are others if you go back further. There’s just something about that personality type, we see it time and again.

I was counter-booed
I sat in the Stanfurd alum section (they are HORRIBLE football fans, don’t have any idea what to do).
Some fat old guy told me to “Settle down and show some respect”.
This, of course, prompted more lusty boos.

is about the size and shape of a dildo.

I don’t think we can really say anything about Tiger being honored by Stanfurd despite he never finished his degree.
I was just looking through some old stuff and found the Jason Kidd commemorate jersey/t-shirt (fairly lousy one too, no wonder it’s been boxed this whole time) from the time when we retired his number in 2004.
