Others receiving votes:
Houston, Stanford, California, UCLA, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Arizona, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame
Dropped out this week:
Houston, Michigan, California, UCLA
Biggest Difference from AP Poll:
Georgia Tech -8, South Carolina -6, BYU -5, South Florida +4, TCU -3
Stanford got more votes than Cal (though both are unranked). This makes me sad. Oh well. Alabama holds the top for another week while Texas usurps Florida. And if Tebow doesn't play next week against #4 LSU, things may get ugly for the Gators. But other than the top remains the same except for two exceptions: Oklahoma tumbles after losing to Miami (who climbs in to the top-10 again this year) but more shockingly (or maybe not) Houston falls from #9 to unranked! Other than that we see South Florida crack the top-25 while UCLA and Michigan ("Meechegan") drop out.
The Biggest Homer Award goes to...
... ttgiang15 who voted for Cal as #1!
This award was presented to the user(s) who loved Cal the most out of everyone who voted this week
Seriously? It's all your fault that Cal is 0-2 in the Pac-10!
The OMG Cal Sux Award goes to...
... Rated-R Superstar, GBB4188, YleeXOtee, Berkelium97, Ohio Bear, Takimoto, Davis Bear, racsan, and royrules22, all of whom did not vote for Cal!
This award was presented to the user(s) who held a glass half-empty look at Cal
Well, what else did you expect?!
The Five Most Confusing Teams Were...
- Georgia
- Brigham Young
- Mississippi
- Nebraska
- South Florida
Most people had the most trouble figuring out where these five teams belonged. This list is limited to teams that are in the top-25 only.
Basically a list of mediocre teams.
The Five Least Confusing Teams Were...
- Missouri
- Wisconsin
- Kansas
- Alabama
- Oregon
Most people were generally on the same page when it came to these teams. This list is limited to teams that are in the top-25 only otherwise all the crappy teams would top this list.
Nothing surprising here. Nothing to say here.
The Five Most Divergent Voters Were...
- ttgiang15
- Takimoto
- Berkelium97
- Ohio Bear
- Davis Bear
This avard was given to the five voters whose poll differed most from the overall Top 25.
Well ttgiang is obvious... Cal at #1!? The other voters are more divergent than others but it doesn't really mean much when there are not that many votes.
The Five Least Divergent Voters Were...

- GBB4188
- racsan
- royrules22
This avard was given to the five voters whose poll differed the least from the overall Top 25.
See my last sentence from the last award.
Sorry folks this one is boring as hell. Only 10 votes were submitted...

Do you like this story?

I didn’t submit my usually divergent vote, but that’s more because I’ve been extremely busy this week than because I was too distraught after the loss to USC to bother voting. Don’t worry, I’ll be back with my unpopular opinions next week.
Also, I’m trying to decide if I’m more bothered by the votes for Houston, or the votes for Notre Dame.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
Meh no worries
I didn’t really feel like posting it today. Especially since I’m bruised all over from paintball. I didn’t realize how much it fucking hurts….
In other words, Go Bears!
I go from 2 straight weeks of high divergence and now I’m in low divergence.. hmm.
Hopefully we get more votes this week, come on guys!
I am a horrible bruin-bear crossbreed.
Holy crapping crap what did LSU do to deserve being ranked at #4. This isn’t the AP poll people, you can drop undefeated teams if they don’t show any indication of being able to score or consistently stop their opponents from scoring.

LSU
They were sixth in my poll and then I moved them up to fourth after they beat a ranked team on the road.

Counterpoint: Georgia sucks too.

Georgia
Yeah, they really suck since they were ranked 18th.

Followup question: Have you actually seen Georgia play?

Wow
That’s your brilliant rebuttal? You sit there, without having submitted a poll, criticizing voters for putting LSU fourth in their poll when it actually makes perfect sense.
Yes, I have seen Georgia play. They lost to Oklahoma State who was ranked ninth and LSU who was ranked fourth. They did, however, beat South Carolina who is now ranked, they beat Arkansas on the road and then they beat an undefeated Arizona State team. Gosh, they’re so terrible!
I don’t know why you think Georgia isn’t good. You also think Oklahoma isn’t good because they also lost to two ranked teams. They’re just the worst teams ever, aren’t they? Florida and Alabama probably haven’t beaten anyone by your standards. Then again, we wouldn’t know. You don’t submit a poll. You just criticize others people’s polls.

I don’t know why you think Georgia isn’t good.
Because they can’t run the football. They can’t throw the football consistently. They can’t defend the pass consistently. They’ve turned the ball over 9 more times than their opponents. Because they’re giving up 26 points per game.
So no reason, really.

Georgia
Don’t forget their quality of opponents. You don’t think that’s a factor? Playing Oklahoma State and LSU doesn’t matter? They hung tough with LSU all the way ’til the end. They averaged 37.7 points against South Carolina, Arkansas and Arizona State. They were doing something right.

Why should it matter that they played Oklahoma State? Their resume outside of the Georgia win consists of a home loss to a team that just last week was eviscerated and left to rot in the El Paso sun by UTEP and wins over a Sun Belt team and a FCS team.
LSU was dominated statistically by Washington (but Washington is a good team! They beat USC! USC rushed on Washington for 250 yards on 7+ ypc and was undone by turnovers and the ineptitude of their backup quarterback. ’nuff said.), eked out average totals vs. a directional Louisiana and SEC whipping boy Vanderbilt, and required a goal line stand to get past the previously moribund Mississippi State.
Mediocre teams beating mediocre teams. Color me unimpressed by the whole affair.

"Mediocre" Teams
Since you think Oklahoma State, Georgia, USC and Washington are all mediocre, who do you think is good? What does your poll look like, then?

I didn’t say anything about USC being mediocre. I said they rushed for 250 yards against Washington and were undone by turnovers and the ineptitude of their backup quarterback. I mean, if that were meant to be a criticism it’d have to be pretty damn oblique.

Again
What teams are good, then?

Depending on how the weekend shakes out, I’ll probably submit Alabama, Texas, Florida, Cincinnati, Miami (Fla), Oregon, Iowa, Boise State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, TCU, and Nebraska (assuming all these teams win, of course) as my Mumme Poll ballot, with my tiebreaker 5 probably including Florida, Texas, USC, Alabama, and one of Miami/VT/Cincy/Iowa. If LSU beats Florida, even without Tebow I’ll call it fair play and put them in the top 5. Auburn and the Furd could both get consideration if they win their games as well. If Arizona beats Washington they’ll be on deck for future consideration if they keep playing well.
Adjustments, as always, will be made when (not if) it turns out all of my predictions are terribly wrong. So it goes.

They’re completely schizophrenic from week to week, but they’re undefeated and have a solid win over Arizona, which is otherwise undefeated and has a strong win over Oregon State (and a decent one over Central Michigan), and a horrorshow road win over Penn State (which in turn hasn’t beaten anyone itself, but doing it on the road in the rain earns style points in my book). Also I’m assuming a win over Michigan. 6-0 with wins over Michigan, Penn State, and Arizona is enough to make me look past Iowa sleepwalking through Northern (Illinois? Iowa? Indiana? I can never keep the I states straight) and Arkansas State games and put them in the top 12, especially if Zona beats Washington on the road.

I found AERose's ballot from last week
It was under the desk:
1. alabama
2. Texas
3. Florida
4-24. USC
25. Washington.
So,its all clear now.
I rest my case w/r/t Georgia, by the way.
