Watch #9 Cal play #13 USC on the road. This was one of the most exciting matches I've seen this year. Big props to PRD74 for spending the time to record this for us, as well as editing out the commercials.

As I went into watching the 5th set w/o knowing the result prior, that was a heart breaker…

Grrr U$C!!!!! They probably figured out a way to pay off the court to move the line an inch back for the last set… Don’t ask me how…

I hear El Paso is beautiful in December....

Logic holds no ground in South Central...

They’re very tricksy those $C donors… Just ask O.J…. Mayo or Simpson…

Well, this one was easy to dissect. We are a far superior team, however I believe the following killed us:

1) We’re serving like crap. We’re still at about two service errors per set and we keep serving to the wrong people.

2) We only have one hitter now. Tarah has been relegated to the role of back court hitter (notice her average was way up in this match). We can only get Tarah open when we use misdirection (like using a pipe set, step up). Mindi is now our second weapon, but she’s a Middle so every one of her hits must be a slide. Correy is growing up fast, but we really need two strong outsides.

3) Bad luck. Really bad luck.

Because this match had so many overtimes… the match was well over two hours. This kills a team that is on the road and must play again the next day. We lost to UCLA the next day but it was really because the team was burned out from this match.

The same thing happened to us last year when we had a two and a half hour match with UCLA and then lost to USC the next day.

It was a really weird match. USC should’ve won it outright if they didn’t keep on making error after error in that 5th set.
