I’ll post Monty’s press conf when it’s up. It’s still not posted.

I really like Boyle. 90% of the time, she actually answers the questions with the truth. Rare in coaches.

Is bringing in Joanne Boyle to coach WBB the signature move of Sandy Barbor’s tenure at Cal? I think a very strong argument can be made that it is, which is all the more impressive considering she brought in Monty, extended/kept Tedford and got the facilities upgraded.

Still the loving, adoptive father of Hector Sanchez. And who doesn't love switch-hitting catchers with power and patience?

I would say so. Bringing in Monty is up there, but I think there was the hometown advantage that really helped. If Monty was looking to get back into coaching, Cal was pretty much the perfect situation: close to home, great facilities, strong base of players, a good project for him. Joanne Boyle was just hard work and recruiting on Sandy’s part. Boyle was a hot commodity – she could have had any number of bigger programs, closer to home, everything else, but Sandy and company convinced her to come to Cal, and the change has been nothing short of remarkable, with more to come. And like you said, Sandy came in and one of the FIRST things she did was sign Tedford to a longer deal. She knew her priorities right off the bat.

I can’t say enough good things about Sandy Barbour. She’s just an amazing AD and a great person!
