Cal v. WSU 10.24.09 Photo Essay II

Photo Essay I

Photos from Monica's Dad Photostream and from friend of the blog Matt Chan.  Thanks to them for great photography at the game!

We start up with the beginning of the game, which was all-Cal all the time.  And a whole lot of this:

Star-divide

Of course, when you factor in people like this:

8134_860135514383_1205253_48375376_6277825_n_medium

via Matt Chan

With people like this:

via Matt Chan

You get optimum results such as this:

And, of course, when you get a lot of that, you get a lot of this:

8923_860062904893_1218201_48372673_4341518_n_medium

That wasn't the only Cal success early.  We had Jeremy Ross, killing it:

IMG_4571 (via Monica's Dad)

And on D, we were pretty stout:

Which led to this:

Some more shots of Best killing it:

We even did more WildBear formation:

Marvin Jones is a really good downfield blocker:

The Souffle was getting some great action:

Note from Monica's Dad: This was a fake handoff that Riley ended up throwing deep, but looking at the pics, it's clear Vereen could have run for a big gainer, too. The WSU D wasn't geared to stop the run or the pass.

That damnable red crane was still there, mocking up with its inevitable redness:

TAKE OFF THAT RED PAINT!  TAKE OFF THAT RED PAINT!

For those who were concerned as to whether the student section filled up, here is an answer:

via Matt Chan

Ok, firstly, there was a painfully large amount of media time outs. WTF!??!  What media??????????  Ai!  And they STILL barely let the Cal band play.  Instead we were subjected to like 10 minutes of Simon Says in the end zone.  NO JOKE!  They did Simon Said.

8923_860062974753_1218201_48372686_5087762_n_medium

It took forever.  I started booing.  I mean c'mon!  What purpose does that serve?

Of course, we got to learn more about Bryan Anger.  Like he could use a good Ambulance Chasing Attorney.

8923_860068553573_1218201_48373030_1073346_n_medium

He couldn't even get attacked by a real mean dog, either.  A dalmation?  Up next, a chihuahua takes a bite out of Alualu.

8923_860068568543_1218201_48373031_3640640_n_medium

Plus, he showed his TD dance, which consisted of a reverse jam:

8923_860068573533_1218201_48373032_4893021_n_medium

And, thus, we were good on that whole first half.  And what a first half.  Although Cal had given up many yards, we were up 35-17 and had had some amazing plays.  The offense was working on all cylinders and Jahvid was in Best-mode.  Riley looked great and even our special teams had its moments.  Then, off to the second half!  GO BEARS!

Monica's Dad takes some great pix

But for those of us newbies, who is Monica? I mean, there are lots of Monica’s Dad out there, but only one MONICA’s DAD.

Matt Chan iced it, too. Thanks for the photos.

I am guessing his daughter? He has a ton of great CAL pictures in his albums and if you scroll he has albums which appear to be dedicated to his family – and one named Monica, so I am guessing it’s her? I could be completely wrong.

So you’re saying that you think Monica is the daughter of Monica’s Dad? Talk about completely unfounded speculation!

Nice pictures. What is up with the red crane?

The action shots of Best’s first long run are great b/c you can clearly see the “before” and “after” results of the blocking. I’d totes buy whatever they’re selling.
