Eating the Enemy: Washington State and Thursday Night Open Thread

NO RECIPES FOR EATING TERI HATCHER, THANK YOU VERY MUCH

From Western Hunting:

Jack Wemple's Mountain Lion Steak Surprise

  • 2 Mountain Lion Steaks (1 lb), cut 1-inch thick
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic powder
  • Johnny's Seasoning Salt
  • 1/2 can of beer
  • Flour
  • Vegetable oil
In a 9x9" flat glass baking pan, combine mixture of milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and Johnny's Seasoning Salt to taste, and a half can of beer.  Lay mountain lion steaks in mixture and marinade for 2 hours.
Roll steaks in seasoned flour, and fry slowly in vegetable oil until just done in the center (don't overcook!)
Serve with green salad, garlic break, and a baked potato or scalloped potatoes for one of the most incredible meals you've ever eaten!

Use this as tonight's open thread for Florida State/North Carolina.  Go...Butch Davis?

From the CA Department of Fish and Games
Why can’t mountain lions be hunted in California?
With the passage of Proposition 117 in 1990, mountain lions became a “specially protected species,” making mountain lion hunting illegal in California. This status and other statutes prohibit the Department of Fish and Game from recommending a hunting season for lions, and it is illegal to take, injure, possess, transport, import, or sell any mountain lion or part of a mountain lion. Mountain lions may be killed only 1) if a depredation permit is issued to take a specific lion killing livestock or pets; 2) to preserve public safety; or 3) to protect listed bighorn sheep.

I think that other states do allow cougar/mountain lion/wildcat/generic cat hunting. Go generic cats!

I’m gonna have to root for Bobby Bowden here. That said, it would be nice to see UNC get back to being a good football program. Though, that probably wouldn’t help us land, say, Gabe King.

It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.

Last i checked he has a UNC offer and is from NC. I know he’s currently in Eugene and reportedly likes Cal, but I wouldn’t rule out UNC.

Season 12? What good episodes are in that season?

So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!

by ragnarok on Oct 22, 2009 8:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Not too many

The good ones include Worst. Episode. Ever. is in it as well as the episode where the kids get snowed in the school the day before Christmas break.

It also has some crappy ones though like The Island. It’s just not funny or clever. Well except:

“Why was a bubble supposed to stop him?”

—“Shut up! That’s why!”

Right now I’m watching the one where Marge teaches an art class at prison. Meh.

The Prisoner is awesome and things that reference The Prisoner are awesome. (I haven’t actually seen the episode in question, though, and am not even sure that what you’re talking about was a Prisoner reference. But I’m sticking to my guns.)

Would one even need a recipe for eating Teri Hatcher?

by DC Trojan on Oct 22, 2009 8:06 PM PDT reply actions

There’s a rim job joke in there somewhere but I don’t have the chutzpah to make it.

I don’t have the verbal cleverness to toe the line between sly joke and uncomfortable line-stepping over.

It’s such a fine line between clever and stupid.
