Fantasy Week in Review - Week 6

Penn State's incredibly weak non-conference schedule almost cost dballers_are_all_loose its first matchup of the season.

Evan Royster managed to run for 94 yards - which was just enough after a 2.25 penalty for a Weak Opponent Adjustment - for his team to defeat Energia del Burro 111.75-111.  He received ample support from Todd Reesing of Kansas in the form of 442 yards and four touchdowns through the air to go along with 12 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, as well as 97 rushing yards and a touchdown from Montario Hardesty of Tennessee on a week where Jake Locker went off for 38 points and the Texas defense racked up 40 points in a dominant effort against Coloardo.

Nominal studs A.J. Green and DeMarco Murray provided a total of 17 yards for Energia del Burro - but at least they weren't as bad as purported top quarterback Jevan Snead of Mississippi, who rolled up a grand total of 1 point on the bench behind 140 passing yards and a 44 rushing yards to go with four interceptions.

Star-divide

Rag's Doombringers continued to ride Jerrod Johnson's right arm in putting up the week's highest point total yet again, defeating Rock Runners 129-117.  Rag's core group of Johnson, Noel Devine, Toby Gerhart, and the Alabama defense each up at least 22 points (as did backups Sam Bradford and Anthony Dixon) to offset strong performance from Ryan Williams, Kerry Meier, and the Oklahoma defense for Rock Runners.  Of course, Rock Runners would have won had Zac Robinson started instead of Terrelle Pryor.  Hydro loves him some Terrelle Pryor.

Austen Arnaud of Iowa State - and by the way, is there a name that seems less suited to being a college football quarterback than Austen Arnaud? - propelled the Holmoe Phobes by team 1 127-75 with 37 points and strong across the support, with only one team member tallying under 8 points and solid efforts from James Rodgers, Lane Tiffin, and the Florida defense. Juice Williams put up only 13 points on a week where two members of team 1 didn't even play and one recorded a total of eight receiving yards.  That Ohio State defense did put up 30 points though.

Yellow Fever got one of the biggest efforts so far in this college fantasy football season with 50 points from Jacquizz Rodgers (so you know, maybe he is better than Jahvid Best), when he tallied 189 rushing yards and 82 receiving yards with four rushing touchdowns to slip by TimeForSomeAction 117-113.5. Jonathan Dwyer finally woke up and put together a solid day with 102 rushing yards, 11 receiving yards, and two rushing touchdowns on a weekend where I apparently picked up the only SEC defense that sucked this past weekend when South Carolina only gave me four points. Jordan Shipley, Demaryius Thomas, Mike Williams, and Toben Opurum (ok, now that is an awkward name) led a balanced attack that didn't quite measure up.

Syd lines up under center beat The Ghosts of Ty Willingham by a count of 92-27 behind subpar performances from Tim Tebow and LaMichael James, but were helped out when Dezmon Briscoe put up enough points all by himself with 186 receiving yards and two touchdowns to defeat a team stocked with our sturdy Golden Bears. On their bye week.

Last week's leader fell from first to a tie for tenth as our favorite Jahvidtician jumped into sole possession of first place.  And for the first time, we don't have a tie for either of the top two spots.  Fun facts from this past weekend:

  • No one picked against our Bears this past weekend - though I would have favored the bye by 7.  Ba-dum-ching! In addition, this week's games against the Bruins isn't up for selection either as neither team is ranked.
  • tmoran3020's picks suck had the most correct picks this week, which means his pick set name is something of a misnomer, picking 15 of 17 games correctly.  The lone misfires - Kansas failing to cover a 19.5 point spread against Iowa State, and TCU failing to cover a 10 point spread against Air Force.
  • Only seven people correctly picked Texas A&M to cover against Oklahoma State, and only ten picked Air Force to cover against TCU.
  • Ten people picked UCLA.  BOOOOOOOO.  These awful, awful people are Easy-So-Feel-Me, Intelligent Chowder?, Trisweb, LEastCoastBears, Bowlbasaur, Bears Necessity, kmando, One if by Land Two if by C, vanman1013, and TwistNLoosen_aka_dballisloose.

It looks like my team picked the best possible week to be injured, on bye, and/or downright unproductive.
