BCS National Championship Game
I’m going with Oklahoma since, believe it or not, they were my preseason pick. Bradford will outshine Tebow tonight.

It’s a new year and time to pile on the optimism. NCG would be great, but we would settle for the Rose Bowl. BTW where do you rank Clemson football next year:)

by BearsNecessity on Jan 8, 2009 5:15 PM PST up reply actions
T-Bow’s GF
Pros: nice hair, doesn’t overdo it on the makeup. Very top heavy.
Cons: Are those real? Is the L Boob bigger than the R Boob?
McCoy’s GF
Pros: tall, lean, slender, athletic build. Goes to Baylor so she’s smart. Nice friends.
Cons: Friend is hotter. Why date a QB who doesn’t go to your school? She’s too tall.
Bradford’s GF:
Pros: I like blondes.
Cons: Dye job honey!

Am I the only one that thinks Colt’s gf is just a cookie cutter white chick? You know I love volleyball players, but I don’t think she’s that special. Tebow’s gf has fake features which is a big no-no for me.
I vote for option #4…. the random hot girls they hook up with on road games. You cannot deny my logic!
My pick for SI cheerleader of the week… blows away the above three.

I think Florida is gonna take this one
Big 12 in general has been looking kind of exposed in their bowl games.
Of course now that I’ve said that, Oklahoma is gonna win.
I have florida for $20... but I kinda want Oak to win
The strange thing is I’ve wavered between the two about five times over the past week… I really don’t know… which means this is a good matchup.
Thought about Oklahoma when it went up to 6 points
Passed. I’ve made enough this year on college.

brilliant for a down or two, but just let that DT right into the backfield. makes Florida look better than they are, perhaps

oklahoma converted once for the first, then had an O-line breakdown which forced Bradford to run for his life and miss a few throws/check down on 3rd and long. Florida’s got the ball now, and the “momentum”

this running game is going nuts, and there’s the play action – you guys were right, the rust is off and now they’re rolling
Oklahoma
just made that look really easy. Just marched right down the field and put it in the end zone.
Most annoying band: USC
Second most annoying band: Oklahoma. They play that same stupid song every play. Agree or disagree?
The Texas band was really irritating me during the Fiesta Bowl. I’d put them at 2nd after USC and before Oklahoma. Texas’ band would not stop playing, they weren’t even really making music, their percussion just kept making noise for extended periods of time.
"After review, it has been determined that the previous play was not reviewable"
The Pac-10: where quality officiating happens.
Miami's band did something similar at the Emerald Bowl
But I have to admit I kinda liked it (didn’t have a choice – was seated in the next section over and couldn’t hear a LICK of what the Cal band played)
On a similar note, I hate bands that don’t have their own fight songs. Furd, Texas (They play working on the Railroad or something like that, no?), and Georgia. Georgia plays the frickin Battle Hymn of the Republic, don’t they? Does anyone else see the irony of a Southern school playing that song?
Or else I have my facts wrong, but the general point remains.
Excessive celebration needs to be removed from the rulebook.
It is never enforced consistently or even clearly defined.
"After review, it has been determined that the previous play was not reviewable"
The Pac-10: where quality officiating happens.
Agreed but....
They just need to change the wording… from excessive celebration… to TAUNTING. I don’t mind if you do the river dance… but I think it’s wrong to do it while flipping off the defense.
It’s so much fun to see for the fans… plus it’s so hard to call for the refs… just outlaw TAUNTING… but not celebrating.
One amendment should be the length of celebration… an additional 5 yard delay of game should be called if the celebration demonstration is too long….

you're right, but
it just seems strange that being on the road vs. being home matters that much. i mean, intangibly of course it has an effect, but if you really think about it in a “Hoosiers” kinda way, its seemingly insignificant. its not like in football where it can confuse your offensive playcalling or in pro baseball where the fields are literally different.

i bet Stoops wished they had kicked that FG earlier so they’d at least have 10 points.

Off topic, we just had an earthquake in LA. Not too big. I’d guess 3-4.

For some reason that streaming link for the hoops game isn’t working for me.
It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.
YES - the championship game is interesting again
staring at the updating score was beginning to be more fun, but with that TD I might actually start paying attention again
Harvin is not 100%
but that’s not stopping him from running all over the place. doesn’t look as fast as before though.
I heard the crowd boo the replay of it. Too bad the crappy Fox broadcast didn’t show a replay.

I hate listening to basketball on the radio
and I actually think Roxy is a pretty good basketball play by play guy
I just get no sense of how good Cal is playing, and if their struggles (if any) are cause by Wazzu or plain old poor play.
Haha
that was funny as hell… I’ve never seen someone think the whistle is blown
You ain't got it like Marshawn got it
Sort of like how 7 straight is a run for the WSU football team.

This is Randle's time now...
a few buckets and he then he needs to drill ALL his free throws… then we win… just close it out Randle!!!!!
Is there an online stream for the Cal-WSU game?
I would actually rather be watching basketball than football right now.

Regarding MBB
Were we expected to win this game? And is UW or WSU supposed to be the harder game?
Up 6 with ball

I keep saying this… but this is not my feed. Cal Athletics (through a backdoor channel) provides a feed for ALL home games here:
http://channelsurfing.net/asx/cal.asx
The rest are picked up by PRD74 or GoldenBearSports…
Keep this sched around… notice almost ALL OUR GAMES are televised… but if not, all the home games will be picked up by live stream.. and the rest by our friends PRD74 and GBS.

oh man, hit 3 for 3 today
took cal +3

Huge win tonight. I was talking to my dad on the phone and we both agreed we hadn’t listened this closely to a Cal radio road game since Ed Gray got injured at Oregon St. That was twelve years ago.
I have to admit, the Gators were the team of my youth
I’m kind of happy with this. There are worse national champions out there.
Utah is the national champion.
They should be, anyway.

I hated FSU (solely for the War Chant)
by BearsNecessity on Jan 8, 2009 8:49 PM PST up reply actions
the war chant is probably one of the coolest things ever
that’s why i’ve always wished we’d do the “roll on you bears” chant until it become disturbing to the visiting team. that kind of repetition just wears you down mentally (see: USC’s incredibly annoying band)
The war chant is such a redneck piece of crap thing to do
Let’s steal the Native American traditions and make them our own! Asshats.
I still hate the Seminoles. I root for them to lose everytime.

Should have followed the game. I’m really trying. I really like Grey-Law and Ashley Walker… just can’[t seem to get into it.
After we gave up a 26 point lead to lose to Oklahoma, I’ve found it tough to follow the women’s team.

You ain't got it like Marshawn got it
I love Native Americans and hate Florida State. But, yes, you’re quite right. It was damned close.
On the flip side, I didn’t care about my final two picks because I clinched with the Texas win. I probably would have changed the Ball State pick to Tulsa (which was my lean) but I didn’t really care enough and went with popular convention. Whatever.

Enough of the Tim Tebow Fellatio
Seriously! He’s a great player. He’s a gamer. He can make plays.
But he’s just a player. He’s not a reincarnate of God. He’s not the best college player ever. Sucking his dick this hard only makes people hate on Tebow more. He doesn’t “will” his team to win. Wow, he gained an extra yard on a scramble. Just say that, not “OMG TebowGod cannot be stopped. He willed his offensive linemen to block for him, then willed his way for the extra yard by trying to hard. Remember what he said after the Ole Miss game?”
Also, Tebow played well, but no way does he deserve the MVP over Percy Harvin. I understand the need to please Tebow, but his dick has to be sore by now.
I have no new information on that at this time.
COME ON LETS GO GOD BLESS
I hope he goes pro.
I like the guy and he’s a great player, but I’m tired of these announcers.
Also, FOX should never be allowed to broadcast games again. Too much cheerleader, not enough football. No replays on penalties (seriously, show the unsportsmanlike conduct).
No joke, give me a couple hours and tape and I would do a better job announcing this game than would the announcers.
I have no new information on that at this time.
Only three more games (next year's Fiesta/Sugar/Orange)
And that was their last national championship. ABC has the rights to all the BCS games in Pasadena and ESPN takes over the year after.

It fails so hard.
Using the previous rankings to generate the current rankings is a terribad protocol, especially after the bowl season when previous conference bias are discredited. Penn State gets thrashed in the Rose Bowl and remains in the top 10. Old Miss beats Georgia Tech and remains ranked below them. So many other errors, its frustrating that this system is used to indirectly determine our champions!
