Cal Fans Missing the Point with Rodgers
The ultimate success of Rodgers lies in validating Tedford as a genuine QB genius.
So, it seems some of the posters around here are grumbling that I am making too big of a deal about Rodgers first career NFL start tonight. Some debate whether we should even cover alums. Some feel we should only cover Marshawn and Desean. And you know who you are. But they miss the point; Cal's ability to send quality players to the NFL directly affects the success of this program. Recruits love to see that their perspective schools they are deciding between have NFL players. Specificly in their position. If a recruit sees that a school is not producing any NFL talent, and they have ambitions to play in the NFL (which they all do) they will be hesitant to attend that school.
Akili Smith, Joey Harrington and Kyle Boller have all strugled mightily in the NFL.
All are Teford QB's. Akili Smith was drafted before Donovan McNabb.
The other large issue, specifically regarding Rodgers first start tonight, is the tag Tedford has gotten about being a producer of NFL QB busts. If Rodgers is solid he can go a long way in helping to dispel this unfair myth.
So you see my friends, there is a lot riding on this game tonight, and the entire Green Bay season. Rodgers in under tremendous pressure to follow in the footsteps of an egomaniacal sociopathic legend. A man so bloated with self importance it could make me puke. He has a lot to do, but I think he has the physical ability, and mental capacity, to succeed in the NFL. Not just succeed, but thrive! And with that, I leave you with this extra motivational tool. If I ever saw this guy in person, I would probably break his freaking jaw!
The opinions expressed in a FanPost are, in every way, reflective of the opinions of every California Golden Blogs Marshawnthusiast. Moreover, they are reflective of every employee of SBNation, including Tyler "Blez" Bleszinski.

It was a joke, dude. One specifically aimed at you. (-; But hey what do you think about the point I tried to make? Don’t you think it’s in Cal’s and Tedford’s best interest to see Aaron succeed?

You know HTML
Your post looks different from all the others.
Anyway, I agree with you… even though there might not be too much interest in update stories on Kidd or Gonzalez etc… we should do it once in a while because recruits and their parents read this blog… as do Tedford, the players and the Treesitters.
We should realize that we do have a little bit of influence and we might as well use it to improve our team. Seems logical to me… BearsWithFangs does a piece every once in a while on our players in the NFL.

I think it is generally irrelevant for our blog. Its more for places where you have to click on each individual message, I think. So, the sign is No Need To ClickOn The Message.

I’m not sure Rodgers has been “ignored” as much as you claim. While Twist is in love with Marshawn, it’s only b/c he gave Marshawn “favors” in the band room. The whole “Favre saga” was covered pretty well and most of us stopped calling him by his name and instead used variations of the following: (a) dickhead; (b) asshole ( c ) douchebag; (d) duchebag; (e) dushbag; etc. We all love Rodgers. We just wished he stayed one more year to complete his mission.
As for the Tedford QB knock. It is real and totally unfair. But as a simple response, can’t Tedford fans reply by saying that Tedford gives his QBs the “opportunity” to play in the NFL. What they do after that reflects half on the organization and half on the QB (Harrington has squandered his chances; Boller has been used badly). Seriously, doesn’t every kid want the chance to play in the NFL? All things being equal, no other coach gives kids that chance at QB than Tedford.

I was drunk when I posted all that crazy stuff about Rodgers not getting enough attention around here. Sorry about that.
As far as the Tedford QB thing goes, I totally agree. I have often made the point in various NFL blogs that he does exactly what you said, he gives his players a shot to get to the NFL. It shouldn’t be on Tedford to coach them once their there, and if anything it’s an indictment of the NFL coaches. The other problem is that because so many of his QB’s were drafted so high, they were often times thrown into terrible situations. The NFL seems to have the mentality of sink or swim when it comes to highly drafted QB’s. As much as I dislike the way Favre acted, the fact Rdogers sat for three years will probably be very beneficial.

Maybe for some people it's like
talking to a member of the opposite (or same) sex: “I need a couple drinks to get my nerve up to respond to that smart ass Twist.”

Maybe we should allow people to flag their posts as
“drunken” vs. “sober.”
That way Seth and others can keep themselves out of trouble.

The next step is to flag posts as ‘asnine’, that way anyone looking for something worthwhile to read can skip them.

Thanks to Urban Dictionary, I do now:
A euphemism for a girl who has a gorgeous figure (especially the posterior), but an ugly face.
Mark: seeing a seemingly attractive girl from behind in public Dude, check her out.
Paul: Damn!
she turns around to reveal a hideous face

According to the same Urban Dictionary article, it originated either from Portal or from one of the *chans and was then repopularized by Portal.
