Desean Jackson a Funny Guy!

Well, very interesting.  Did anyone watch the starting lineups for the Eagles - Bears game tonight?  When it came time for Desean to say where he went to school he said, "Desean Jackson, Long Beach Poly."  WTF kind of nonsense is that?  I have never seen any other player do that on SNF.

I think it totally disrespects Cal and frankly I will no longer support Desean in any form.  I think a lot of you, notably Yellow Fever, should reexamine your affinity for him.  He's straight up Mesean, not Desean.  Discusting.

Update:  Desean is free to do and say whatever he wants.  My statements above are mine alone.  Feel free to voice yours if you like.

Also, apparently other players have done this also.  Perhaps I am overreacting.

I’ve seen other players do it, most notably Larry Allen. I think he always mentioned his high school.

Didn’t Deltha O’Neal do this?

by BearsNecessity on Sep 28, 2008 5:42 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Well...

I think the least Jackson can do is try and give a little back to Cal in anyway he can. Obviously hearing that he went to Cal on national television would have been a good thing. Desean probably looks at it like, “well I went to Cal and gave them three years of true perfection, I aint owe them nothing!” Whatever, I’m so over it… I hope the Eagles lose!

by CaliSeth on Sep 28, 2008 5:52 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

He might retroactively blame his fall in the draft on his fall with the Bears. And I know he remembers fondly his high school years at Long Beach.

It definitely bothers me.

But I wouldn’t go so far as to write a fan post called “DeSean Jackson is a Jackass” because of it.

Well, the new name doesn’t make any point at all. Split the difference this time. How about “A certain part of me moderately dislikes DeSean Jackson and his offensive mannerisms”?

Well…
The Cal staff has insinuated that he was a clubhouse cancer…
The Cal players have mentioned in the press an unnamed star with “Heisman-like credentials” disrupting the team chemistry last season…
The Cal fans have been less than happy about him because of these insinuations…

I mean it bothers me that it got to this point.

It wasn't intentional

…. Could be just the question that was asked of him… other players during the lineups mentioned their high schools too and one even mentioned “Desert Storm”… They must have been asking for both high school and college names. It wasn’t an intentional slight. I’m still proud of him and will cheer him on tonight.

Don't worry dude

I know you’re uptight because the Packers might have made the wrong decision in trading Favre. But it’s all cool.

by BearsNecessity on Sep 28, 2008 5:59 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

OMG

Are you serious? You really had to say that? It was one bad game, ONE! Rodgers will bounce back from this and be better than ever. Remember his Oregon St. game? This is no different. Man, that was low.

by CaliSeth on Sep 28, 2008 6:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

No, just that the Packers could’ve used a capable backup in case Rodgers gets injured (which he was for half the game). Matt Flynn looks amazing, and by amazing I mean he sucks.

by BearsNecessity on Sep 28, 2008 6:06 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rodgers was injured? Oh no… Do you know what happened? I didn’t get the game.

by CaliSeth on Sep 28, 2008 6:08 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

He injured his shoulder, didn’t look himself for the last half of the game. MRI will be needed. Still not sure if he’ll play next week.

by BearsNecessity on Sep 28, 2008 6:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well that’s really troubling. Brohm and Flynn are nowhere near ready. If Rodgers is injured, and the Packers lose with the backups, I would worry about the stability of the Thompson/McCarthy regime. Oh God, I can’t wait to see the Packer fans questioning Aaron’s durability again. This makes the Desean gaffe seem like no big deal, which it isn’t.

by CaliSeth on Sep 28, 2008 6:17 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

“Plus the O-linemen will play harder for Favre because they LOVE TO SEE HIM PLAY. CAN I JUST SAY HOW MUCH I LIKE BRETT FAVRE? I know I’ve said this before, but Brett Favre is just having so much fun out there! And the Packers just have to wonder why they gave up on a guy who nearly took them to the Super Bowl. He threw six touchdowns this week. HE MUST BE GETTING BETTER! THE JETS ARE THE STORY OF THE SEASON!”

I jest, but agree with Seth. It bothers me that he didn’t give Cal a shout out. It’s a small thing, but there are potential recruits out there watching the game and it’d be nice for them to be reminded that Cal is a path to the NFL.

by CalBandGreat on Sep 28, 2008 6:34 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’d be nice, but I think the last thing people will be saying after this game is “OMG DeSean went to Long Beach Poly! I want to go!”

He fumbled a punt and the Bears went on to score on offense as a result. Desean looked so sad on the sidelines. I feel terrible. I always knew not to mess with karma. Desean will learn this as his career progresses. Come on Desean! Get back in the game! We believe in you!

Favre is a bitch.

Don’t get me started tonight. I am already freaking out because it looks like Rodgers has a separated shoulder. For an young NFL QB, that is a death knell when you are not already established. Look at Alex Smith! Damnit! I feel so fucking powerless on a second night in a row.

I give up, whatever…

by CaliSeth on Sep 29, 2008 1:38 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Calm down. All of his personality deficiencies aside, how can you argue against Brett Favre’s track record? He’s done great things over his career and he will be one of the top 5 QBs of all time statistically.

I REJECT THIS SLANDEROUSNESS

I ALWAYS give a thank-you to someone who writes a good post or fanpost. For example, I forget who, but they took great pics of one of the games/hippie crap and I vocalized my feelings about that. To mention but ONE example of my bounteous thankfulness for quality posts…

EXCUUUUUUSE me for pointing out that Longhorn douchebag was, in fact, a douchebag (he was!) And for pointing out that guy who posted inane statistics we’d heard 200 times before were, in fact, inane statistics we’d heard 200 times before.

And either way, I think CaliSeth, who is overreacting, misinterpreted my post. It’s not that I don’t care what he writes, it’s that I don’t care that Desean didn’t mention Cal. Why should we care, he is a pro now…he is not contractually beholden to exult upon Cal’s name at every opportunity…

Eagles lose. Did the D-Jax fumble cause the loss?

Well, looks like another tough break for the Eagles. Losing to the Bears (not the Golden Bears of course, silly) is never a good sign. One thing I do take away from this game and previous NFL performances by Desean is that he will be great. There is no question about that. He looks like an improved version of Steve Smith. I am upset and hurt that he didn’t scream out with pride that he went to Cal, but the kid is special, the kid will be great.

P.S. I was reading that damn Bear Insider again and someone made the ridiculous point that people who were upset with Desean and his declared school were insecure. Ah, bullshit, dude. It has nothing to do with insecurity, but everything to do with school pride and loyalty! Desean clearly has NO loyalty to Cal, but he is a very special player. I may have to sign up to that smorgasbord of irrational debate just to set that trick ass straight.

Let’s just be Cal fans above all.

Trust that Coach God, right or wrong, will play the guy he thinks will get the team the win. Support the QB whoever it is. I for one continue to think we have 2 QBs capable of leading us to victory.

And if all else fails, smile and bask in the intoxicating glow of SAHPC groundbreaking!

by OskiMonsta on Sep 29, 2008 4:00 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Theoretically, if all Cal fans trusted Tedford to play the guy that he thinks will put the team in the best position to win then this shouldn’t become a divisive issue. Unfortunately, not all Cal fans trust Tedford any more mostly because of last year and also because a lot of fans like to think they know more than the head coach. Indeed, a few select ultra rare fans might know more than Tedford but I’m willing to beat 99.999% of them don’t.

I think it’s fun to play armchair QB, but then again, you gotta know when to face reality and the fact that you don’t know more than Tedford (who sees the team more than his wife). I’ve faced the fact that I don’t know more than Tedford. It hurt. But I now accept it and have come to live with it. I think it’s hard for some people admit that a head coach might know more than them, thus they don’t want to trust Tedford and would rather stick with their armchair/couch QB opinion.
