Official Cal-CSU Photos Thread!
Post any photos that you took at the game here. Since my photos are probably (most likely) worse than the others that are gonna get posted I decided to get it out of the way first:
Man it was effing hot.

SydGOD, grabbing the ball on a punt. He proceeded to run it in for a TD:

CSU fans leaving (this was the worst turnout for a visiting team I've seen since I've been at Cal - 2006)

I disagree. There were actually a couple hundred CSU fans there. Not that they made any noise at all. But there were absolutely 0 visiting fans for the LA Tech game last year, and a comparable amount to today for the 2007 Wazzu game.
PS Great Pics

I saw quite a bit of LATech fans last year
But those green shirts got lost in the muddle…
In other words, Go Bears!
I think the worst attended Pac 10 game I saw was Arizona last year…they seriously brought fewer fans than CSU today, it was really pathetic.

By any chance...
…did you get the rest of the pregame show?

I was actually pleasantly surprised at the turnout, although high school band day had to account for a lot of butts in seats. I was expecting much worse for a midday minor non-conference team.
Yea the official attendance was greater than the one for MSU
And is it just me or were there a lot of middle school and high school (non-band) kids there?
In other words, Go Bears!
A friend of mine who works on campus says her lab got free tickets. I think this was give-tickets-to-whoever-we-friggin-can game.

All university staff and faculty were eligible for free tickets to this game.

anyone else notice that they never announced that it was faculty/staff appreciation day?
ahhh, the appreciation we’re used to….none….
There's no crying in baseball!
Didn’t they have a big message from some Chancellor or something.

I must've missed it
I was sitting with a bunch of other faculty and staff as well…none of us saw anything…
There's no crying in baseball!
I TOTALLY HEARD IT
and then a few of the people around me starting ‘appreciating’ my friend who technically is not a campus employee. so there was action.
It was going to college day
or something like that. lots of pre-collegiate groups
There's no crying in baseball!
I shouldn't say this but...
Those HS bands were pretty terrible. I mean I couldn’t make out the song because of all the off-key confusion. And OMG cut back on the drums.
Our band? Fucking amazing
In other words, Go Bears!
I totally agree. Too many people playing at once!
There are bound to be timing issues with 14,000 people playing instruments at once. It was not very impressive.

I think we should have a band that size. And play behind the opponents’ bench. All day.

Some pitchers
The card stunts for anyone who had no idea what a few of them looked like (and that probably accounts for nearly everyone at the game)

If you’ve never seen Bryan Anger punt in person, make sure you see him before he graduates. He’s been a little inconsistent recently, but when he connects with a ball, it is gone.

CSU coming out onto the field.

We’ll upset them, right guys?

Seeing that they are clearly overmatched, the Rams immediately run off the field in horror
A pep talk convinced the Rams not to forfeit immediately.

Coaches: It won’t be that bad. Just throw the ball at the receiver near Darian Hagan. It worked last year and it will work this year.
Last time I posted pictures, someone commented on her (or his?) appreciation of the players’ butts. SBNation automatically resizes large pictures, so you can’t see the butts that well here.

Click here for a better look at their butts.
Halftime featured a dance-off between the director and drum major.

Team captains going onto the field at the start of the second half.

The water system connected to the fan/misters by the Cal benches sent water soaring about 8 feet into the air after the game. I missed a picture of it by mere seconds.

I have great video of that dance off. It will be enjoyed by all very soon!

Mine came out terrible because I spent my time focusing on the cheerleaders only to be blocked by a douchebag
In other words, Go Bears!
Roy, I said it that time and I’ll say it again, I am SORRY I blocked your video. Happy now?

During the card stunts
there was a large group of students who were just holding up green cards the entire time to mess up the pictures. Cool or douchey? I think they thought they were cool.

Only if this was a subtle jab at US immigration policies. Otherwise it’s just hipster douchiness.

That makes sense now
I thought the ol’ video board was just having a bit of a malfunction and had some pixels stuck on green. There is never a shortage of morons in the student section.

They might have been incognito CSU fans…but we would have seen their horns…….

CSU fans in the Cal student section?
Yea if they had a death wish. Not happening.
Now it’s much more likely that were a bunch of drunken fucking frat assholes
In other words, Go Bears!
Speaking of poor frat boy behavior
I was by a large group of frat guys. When we scored they would “blowup” outwards – meaning they would all jump outwards and knock people over (backwards, forwards, and sideways). They knocked people down 2-3 rows below them which is a pretty dangerous situation considering people are all of a sudden getting hit from behind and thrown down the benches. They did this twice and I had a few friends get knocked down a few rows. There was pretty big potential for people getting seriously hurt by their stupid acts yet they thought they were cool and funny. Maybe I’m just old, but when are drunk frat boys going to learn that their stupid pranks often are more demonstrating of their stupidity and reckless disregard for human safety than their coolness?

Is this a serious question? Man, you are getting old. Never. The answer is never.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
This has as much a chance of happening as Memorial Stadium staying full for the entire game. I saw plenty of Cal fans ditch the stadium by mid 3rd/early 4th quarter to either beat traffic or hit up parties last year. Fairweather with football we are.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 28, 2008 5:15 PM PDT up reply actions
At least we are fairweather
Plenty of schools that are ‘too concerned with academics’ to pay any attention to athletics. We’ve got nerds that like football over studying.
I’m not exactly certain that’s a good or bad thing. Although the more of them I meet, the more I’m convinced Stanford undergrads seem hyper-insulated.

Student Section
Yeah, the Blue and Gold zones were pretty empty by the beginning of the 4th, but the student section stayed fairly full. Not 2004 full, when people still appreciated the glory of a four quarter blowout, but pretty full.
2004 was a special season
Everytime I reflect upon it, I think of how great it was. And how I wish I appreciated it more.

I was in the student section and I stayed til the clock said 0:00, but I can hardly blame those who left. Up by 4 touchdowns, game dragging on, very little action, torching hot sun right in everyone’s eyes…it was pretty nasty.
by Spazzy Mcgee on Sep 28, 2008 11:45 PM PDT up reply actions
douchey in a cool way... then just douchey
I was standing right by these guys (last minute trip into SF parlayed into a weekend vacation and home game). They were mostly pretty drunk and wanted to see if it would work. They almost got into a fight with a bunch of people when they stayed green for the Briggs tributes, but it dissipated pretty quickly if for no other reason that there was very little to get heated about during that game (except maybe the poor quality of the Bay Area marching bands).
