I’m not sure if I can keep on watching anymore… when was the last time we had only 6 pts by the fourth?
Worst game of the Tedford era?
TN in ‘06 was somewhat understandable, but bad. UW and ’furd last year were pretty bad. But this is just so horrible on so many levels, plus it’s on national television which will just ruin us on the national recruiting trial.
I figured this was going to be a rebuilding year on the offensive side of the ball. Guess I was right.
The Bear Will Not Quit
The Bear Will Not Die
Blame in on Nolan!
The reek from this Cignetti run offense is starting to permeate the room. You just can’t trust anyone from a Nolan coached 49ers team. Gregory is back to the same old tricks from last season. If my comments become bizarre, it’s not my fault. I am drunk, at 11 in the freaking MORNING! That’s a low even for me!
Being a Redskins fan, I’m used to having my day ruined before noon. Two days is a row is too much to endure, though. Mmmmmmm….druuuuuuugs…..druggity drug drug drugs

to quote someone on the terps board prior to the game, thinking they’d lose it: “WE GONNA GET RAPED.”
how did we stop anyone in week anything?

They were all on the West Coast, with later start times and cool, clear weather.

Karmaic payback
Everything went right for us last week, and now it’s biting us in the ass.

I knew we wouldn't cover 14.5 ...
I don’t think Cal straight up was available, I would’ve taken that, but the pts were a total trap
I knew it was a trap too
I passed because it’s CAL.

Riley needs to get out of the huddle faster, and WRs need to get out of bounds.

Typical Cignetti
Let’s play as SLOW as POSSIBLE in as PREDICTABLE a manner as we can.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 13, 2008 11:51 AM PDT up reply actions
at least we can stop hearing about all that best beisman talk. it was annoying and way too fucking premature.
Hated it the moment it started
I knew we were about to get screwed.

Any sort of national attention just seems to kill this team
The Bear Will Not Quit
The Bear Will Not Die
We’ve had worse, but these all seem to be at the worst moment. They are exploiting every break and we are not.

I know we have had 110+ games before
I think we had one last season.

TAD SMITH?
God we must’ve sucked today.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 13, 2008 11:56 AM PDT reply actions
He was the first tight end in the game, I think. I don’t think Morrah started.
by BleedinBlue on Sep 13, 2008 11:56 AM PDT up reply actions
Excellent
Now the loss doesn’t look SO bad.

Well, this team is supposed to have some leaders in the locker room now. This is going to be their big test. I’m curious as to how it works out.
Leader 1: Hey dude
Leader 2: Yeah dude
Leader 1: We sucked dude
Leader 2: Yeah dude
Leader 1: Let’s not play like that again.
Leader 2: Yeah dude

what's the key stat vs us?
6/8 on 3rd down or whatever time of possession is?
We have better yards, time of posession, and first downs
But we’re 2-11 third downs. They’ve dropped to 6-10, but that’s because it is garbage time/run time-off-the-clock time
by Berkelium97 on Sep 13, 2008 12:04 PM PDT up reply actions
No?
You go for two on the last drive.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 13, 2008 12:02 PM PDT up reply actions
why?
they needed 22. You can get that by 7-7-8 or 8-8-6. If they had gone for two, they could have missed and still tied it, whereas now they can’t miss. And what difference does it make whether they do it on the first or last drive?
The A's colors are green and gold.
No
Because if they miss it they’re down 16 and need to run two more two point conversions. As opposed to waiting until the end and running one. Risk management.

I HEREBY DECLARE!
No future Cal teams shall travel for games past the mountain time zone. It is so declared…..
why does gregory still have a job. why? is tedford not understanding that our D has been consistenly average to below average?
But that's a chronic Pac-10 problem
They put their best athletes on offense, and take their chances on defense. The SEC does the opposite. That’s just the way it is.
by Jeff Nusser on Sep 13, 2008 12:06 PM PDT up reply actions
If the 3-4 performs like this the rest of the year
I don’t think Gregory will be around next season.
by Berkelium97 on Sep 13, 2008 12:07 PM PDT up reply actions
You know
I don’t really need to be reminded that my Seahawks cut Forsett when they’re carrying two kickers.
Did everyone see that consolation hug?
At least the offense is looking a little more awake. There’s still 5 minutes left.
GO BEARS!
How wikipedia defines "embarrassment"
“Embarrassment is an emotional state experienced upon having a socially or professionally unacceptable act or condition witnessed by or revealed to others. Usually some amount of loss of honour or dignity is involved, but how much and the type depends on the embarrassing situation.”
Sounds about right.
Go Sox!
"Usually some amount of loss of honour or dignity is involved....."
Yeah, that does sound right. Sounds spot on……
The humidity must've affected everyone early
They should’ve practiced last week in a sauna.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 13, 2008 12:13 PM PDT reply actions
I think the humidity made your kicker suck on his onside kicks
by Jeff Nusser on Sep 13, 2008 12:15 PM PDT up reply actions
I told you this morning the heat was going to be a factor all day. Unless you have been through it, you have no idea………..
I lived in Florida for ten years
I knew it was coming, just not like this.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 13, 2008 12:17 PM PDT up reply actions
They'll probably run it to run down the clock
except since our D seems to have given up the runner will break free and they’ll score a TD
You know, you really might have a chance to come back
if your defense could quit shitting all over itself.
Except when you play Washington State!
But then again, we’re everyone’s defensive cure.
by Jeff Nusser on Sep 13, 2008 12:18 PM PDT up reply actions
I thought he was coming in to play defense.
by Berkelium97 on Sep 13, 2008 12:19 PM PDT up reply actions
"Cal is right back in it"
Unfortunately…. I disagree
If Cal pulls this off, i'm putting my money where my mouth is
and writing a $50 check to Cal athletics for the athl ctr
It's all relative....
Shouldn’t we be worried about Hurricane Ike. Think of all the victims. We should focus our attentions on something more worthwhile. Peoples lives are in danger!
Have you been watching the game?
These players’ lives are in danger. I would hate to be on that flight home.
by Berkelium97 on Sep 13, 2008 12:22 PM PDT up reply actions
Like you said
Our onside kicker sucks.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 13, 2008 12:22 PM PDT up reply actions
Well, he's had enough practice now
Maybe you can get a decent kick this time.
by Jeff Nusser on Sep 13, 2008 12:25 PM PDT up reply actions
This would be a typical Cal loss
Give us hope with 30 seconds to go, then stomp all over our hearts for hoping … fuck that shit, I’ve seen that story too many times …
Approaching 60 pass attempts, Riley over 400 yrds
And only 23 runs. So much for the 50-50 balance we try and have.
Go Sox!
Does Cignetti not realize you can run to the outside? If he wants to run up the middle like that he can’t use Best.
by WilltheBear on Sep 13, 2008 12:26 PM PDT up reply actions
When you're down 28-6 in the 4th
running the ball is accepting defeat
Yeah
But for a fan, it’s an awful three hours.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 13, 2008 12:27 PM PDT up reply actions
That blown safety call was huge
Think about the two points, then the chance to try and score before the end of the half. That was bad.
by Jeff Nusser on Sep 13, 2008 12:28 PM PDT up reply actions
is 1:55 enough to get the ball back on a 3 and out?
oh, what the hell am I thinking … i never learn …
Gotta work on those onside kicks
None of them had any chance to succeed.
Maryland played prevent defense
so the score will look respectable. But we got beaten soundly.
Ugh.
Typical East Coast jackasses. That + Bad Game = Me leaving the house to go hunt down Rock Band 2.
brb, going shopping.
Not a bad idea.
But, I’m twenty. So I can only nab what I’ve already got around the house.
Which is EAST COAST BEER. GRAGH.
by Swamphunter on Sep 13, 2008 12:33 PM PDT up reply actions
IT WAS AN OOC GAME!
We still have conference play. And USC should be pretty beaten up by the time we play them. This is still a good year to come…. Just don’t think about ETSU beating MA.
I wonder how bad the Pac 10 will look if Cal beats USC now
Of course, if USC beats tOSU today ….
After our second-half performance last year and today's game
We’d have to beat ASU and Oregon before we’re ranked again.
by Berkelium97 on Sep 13, 2008 12:37 PM PDT up reply actions
I agree
Having been to some pretty humid places in the midwest, I can say that it’s absolutely suffocating if you haven’t lived in it for a while.
It was at least a good game at the end
sorry they couldn’t get it rolling about 3 minutes earlier… :-(
Tedford quotes:
“We didn’t play very well”….“Too many penalties….Lot to learn from”
All pretty vanilla, bordering on resignation. As in, ’Wow, I just blew a great chance to promote the program and help take us to the next level."
Go Sox!
Take a nap man
I’m heading out. I suggest all of you do the same before Ohio St.-USC.

If we would have been told
Kevin passed for 423 yards
Best had 225 all-purpose yards
We won the turnover battle
And our receivers actually stepped up?
Who would have thought we would have lost? Man, what a weird game.
May we play no more games on the east coast or on grass.
seriously?
for any blue and gold bleeder, anti-furd > pac-10 support, unless furd winning directly impacts/improves Cal (like beating sc) …
we were completely outcoached for 3 quarters. play calls were unbelievable.
"We believe this project is now dead." - Stephan Volker
somewhere, the AD for middle tenn. state is desperately ttrying to schedule a home and home with cal…..
well, at least we can count on SC to hold the PAC 10 banner high today. I know Cal fans hate SC. But they don’t really hate us. SO we should cheer them tonight!
How can you wish that? The Pac was just humiliated. If SC can go undefeated, up to the point in time in which we beat them, we look like studs. Come on. You have to look at the bigger picture man!
I am...
I hate USC.. spans the years :-)

Everyone Breathe.
That was a terribly painful game, but it was a learning experience. Never will Cal face such inhospitable climatic elements again. The Cal fans that went to the game probably all work in Washington. And the few who do not, well, sorry. This was a bad game, no doubt. However, I feel it will embolden our team, and the fan base. I was mouthing off just last week about how great we are. I have learned to never, ever, ever, ever, ever, do that again. Things are not so bleak. There are positives to take away from this game. I know that is hard to believe, but it is the truth!
Holiday Bowl is wide open!
I'm no The Maharg! But I try. Oh, how I try!
