Labor Day Live Blog III (Second Half)
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?
How many interceptions will the UCLA QBs throw today?
My prediction still stands: By the time Cal plays UCLA, the UCLA QB is Karl Dorrell in fake mustache.
Chat about the second half of Brett Farve day down in the Rose Bowl in here, guys!

offensive units - mediocre! pass defense dominates in the first half
I don’t know the stats, but I think Craft completed as many passes to Tennessee as he did to his own WR corp. I wonder who’ll go in second half for UCLA
Arian Foster and the Vols taking over....oops spoken too soon FUMBLE - recovered by UCLA
Crompton just threw to Lucas Taylor to set up the TD…and then Hardesty promptly loses it. Vols fans everywhere just broke their TVs.
What do you sell at a philosophy store?!?!?

More Bruins Nation doublespeak:
" No… but maybe he could have held on into the locker at halftime tied"
Replies: " or may be He was playing to win. Something we have been waiting for … for years."
" My thoughts exactly. It is a Neu era. So it blew up in our face. We’re only down by 7 in a game no one gave us a chance."
Apparently it’s okay to play all balls, no brains. The Bruins could go 3-9 but as long as they throw deep all the time Neuheisel can keep his job.
(And the original poster was a girl. These people at BN are not of this earth.)
I can only imagine how crazy it’s going to sound if they lose to Oceania.

UCLA wins 27-24 in OT: OFFICIAL GAME SUMMARY
We all knew UCLA was going to suck a fat one, but WHO KNEW THE VOLS WOULD SUCK JUST AS HARD! Craft have a craptacular 1st half, with 4 interceptions, could not get pass protection and had a running game that wasn’t going anywhere…
however,
not to be out-sucked, the Vols sank to the occasion and were determined to represent for the SEC (Sucky East Conference). Crompton showed promise as an equally craptacular QB, doing maybe as well as the third stringer from UCLA. Second half was a bit easier on the eyes for both offenses, with Craft completing passes and putting together drives (teh rise of teh Craftsman?), resulting in a late TD in the fourth quarter. The Vols showed resilience, tying it up with a late field goal.
In OT, UCLA’s kicker > Vol’s kicker. Neuheisel made UCLA fans “happy”; Fulmer should lay low for a while.
Cal fans everywhere smile, as we all know that we are going to overwhelm UCLA later this season in a mother effing display of awesomeness. 48-28 CAL TAKE IT TO THE BANK

You know how sometimes it’s hard to tell, is it the defense that’s doing bad or the offense that’s just doing really well (and vice versa)? Well, Tennessee’s offense really is that bad (Arian Foster is the only good thing coming out of that and even then he was held to less than 100 yards), their quarterback really is that bad. I don’t think they should have been ranked so high to begin with. Tennessee will go about .500 this year.
UCLA, meanwhile, looks pretty good defensively. They may be the second defensive team in the Pac-10 next to USC.
Their ability to stop the run is for real, although their pass protection really hasn’t been tested just yet. Cal, ASU, Arizona, Oregon, and now add UCLA to really test USC this year. Speaks volumes about the strength of this conference.
I can only hope we didn’t lose any prospects because of that game today.
Could we please ease up on the Baby Bears, and turn on the SEC????
I’m just askin’ for a little Pac-10 solidarity. The SEC is so annoyingly overrated, that it gives me chronic gas (like the kind you get from the dollar dogs after the final whistle at Memorial). Tennessee is and will be an upper 1/3 SEC team. They’re loaded with veteran players on both sides of the ball. This was like a typical SEC game — solid defense and special teams, pathetic excuse for offense. The SEC freakin’ sucks, sucks, SUCKS!!!!!! Can we please start playing more games in SEC country so that we can take away some of their recruits (like we’ve been doin’ in Texass) to save them from those troglodyte coaches in the South?
I mean, Mt. SAC’s qb and a virtual offensive line beat the Vols. Are you freakin’ kidding me??? The SEC sucks. All I’m askin’ for is a thread where you guys turn your insightful wit on our unjustifiably cocksure Southern brethren.

We have heard the same one-sided recycle stories over and over and over gain.
Well … now it just doesn’t matter.
Our Bruins just sent an unmistakable message by blasting shockwaves around the college football world.
shockwaves of what? suck? dear lord…
If Karl Dorrell was still there....it'd go something like this
“For any sucker who actually is foolish enough to think today’s victory (yeah like we didn’t call this or anything) actually means something, just try and see if you can bring back those feelings and emotion you experienced after those meaningless Lavin (”upset") victories at Maples Pavillion.
One again, in the big picture scheme of things, today’s win means nothing."
Oh wait, that was the exact quote when UCLA beat #12 Cal in the Rose Bowl last season. But you could easily say the same thing about this win against Tennessee today. In the big picture it meant nothing.
What self-entitled douchebags.

That Nestor guy sounds really bitter or something.
[to Cal fans] Oh Cal will always be Cal even if those clowns are coached by a young Bobby Bowden. See you later losers. Good luck fighting and scraping for another Holiday Bowl, because that’s all you will probably ever get out of your sorry football program (before you lose your football coach to a real high profile big time program he truly deserves to coach at).
Hey says Cal fans are “losers” and “clowns.” Perhaps I’m missing something here but did one of our fans go over to their site and piss him off or something? It just seems like he’s going off on us for no reason. Perhaps he’s upset because UCLA actually won and it might have meant that Dorrell might stay as UCLA’s head coach?

Funny comment from RockyTopTalk:
Tonight’s game against UCLA was most decidedly not good. The Bruins had apparently resorted to LinkedIn to find a QB who had transferred from a really bad team via community college. They had lost several non-QB key players prior to the game. They lost several more during the first half. The aforementioned QB threw four, four, interceptions in the first half.

Honestly
You go to the Trojan board and they are quite congratulatory. They feel that this win shows the SEC and the rest of the nation that the Pac-10 is the real deal. This win helps you and us and them (SC).
As I said, I often find myself rooting for Cal because it is our senior sister university and I am, at least, very proud of the accomplishments of the entire University of California system.
Don’t get me wrong, the stuff you guys come up with is funny. I like most of it but some of these posters are dull AND mean-spirited. No one likes to read that. Watching that is much like watching a retard play with sporks on a table at McDonalds.

well...
+ your defense looked solid (mostly) against a good running back in Arian Foster. UCLA’s pass D was also on point, not to mention the pressure put on Crompton.
+ your win was good for UCLA and good for our conference, considering anyone that watches college football watched the game tonight.
+ If Kevin Craft doesn’t relapse into first-half mode, he could have UCLA fans excited about your match-up against USC.
But LOLOLOLOL – it’s not as if we came onto your boards and started bashing your team. so don’t get all wound up if we as your in-state rivals don’t jump on the bruin bandwagon. don’t confuse “hate” with criticism – we’re all just MESSIN WITCHA!

Let he who is without obnoxious comments on his football fan message board throw the first stone.
I hate fucla and the bruin tweeners, but damn, the Tenn Scout board is giving me a pretty broad silver lining. At least every time we hear the SEC mantra, we can think:
"UCLA uses a 3rd string Qb, gives Tennessee 4 turnovers in the first half, loses 3 starters on offense in the first half including their best running back and the big bad Sec team can’t win from a team in the Pac 10 that’s going to be a bottom feeder this year. "
Awesome.
