Labor Day Live Blog Open Thread II (The Sarah Palin / Rick Neuheisal Era Thread)
Fresh off the success of his Labor Day Live Blog Open Thread I, Avinash is back. But he's not alone! Many of our finest readers (and Goldblooded) are in there, live-blogging away. The first thread is a hilarious recap of the madcap antics that were Fresno State-Rutgers. And if anything screams madcap antics, it is DEFINITELY the UCLA offense. So, get in there and live-blog your ass off!

This got buried in the last post and some people may have missed it, but the torrent for Saturday’s Cal game is heavily seeded. Go here to download it. Start now and it should be done before the end of the UCLA-Tenn game.

Rick Neuheisel is far more beautiful than Sarah Palin.

Excellent
Lou Holtz has looked at how UCLA wears their socks and has concluded they have discipline. Seriously. Perhaps he missed the Seattles Times five part expose on Neuheisel’s disciplined Washington squads.

Sarah Palin
ABC News just confirmed that she was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party which openly advocates Alaska succeeding from the Union.

I myself have desired to see Alaska succeed. All we know about the place are Eskimos, polar bears, and Carlos Boozer.

Slow down there. Without Carlos Boozer we may have had to settle for the silver in Beijing. Let’s make sure if they go he stays an American citizen.
Carlos Boozer was there for one reason: Coach K. He was warming the bench for most of the Olympics.

Doesn’t ESPN have any more highlights of Tenn than our game with them? I know they want to draw a parallel, but to quote Lee Corso, which I hate to do, “ucla is NO Cal!”
We beat them. I’m happy seeing the highlights again.

Woah… Rick high fived Walker after the miss… you’d never have caught Dorell resorting to bullshit displays of excitement like that!
None of this "bad offense" compared to Fresblow vs Suckgers
Rutgers had 1st and goal twice and came away with ZERO points. That is some amazing level of suckiness.

I imagine Pete Carroll is watching this game some where with Matt Leinhart, sipping a Zima, and laughing his ass off.

Ordering pizza online is dangerous especially when you use a debit card. You don’t talk to anyone on the phone, someone rings your doorbell and hands you a pie, and no money is exchanged. It feels like it’s free.

It’s in West San Jose, near Cupertino. if you’re coming off 85 take the De Anza exit, head south to Prospect and turn left on Miller. On the corner of Miller and Bollinger. Fantastic thin crust pizza. My personal favorite is the Cicero’s special (pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, salami).

Cal Ranking
Has anyone run the numbers yet? If Tennessee goes down tonight can we expect to be as high as 21 or 20?
Nah
Probably 24 or 23. Only 3 teams would fall out of the top 25.
by BearsNecessity on Sep 1, 2008 6:24 PM PDT up reply actions
I agree. Maybe 23 in the AP poll and 25 or unranked in the USA Today poll. I think we got really good press from the Mich. St. win so we could be slightly higher.
i'd call that a stretch
no idea how far clemson or vatech fall, though i’m not including them in my next blogpoll. pitt falls out, but illinois might stay. also, we’re probably still behind fresno.

Utah might leapfrog us in the rankings for beating Michigan at Ann Arbor. They’re right behind us in the AP poll.

Reasonable question: Any reason they didn’t run that up the gut?
Responses:
you miss KD?
not in the least
Seriously
Apparently running the clock out with a QB with 3 INTs is too Dorrellian. Question Big Brother…err..Rick Neuheisel and you will be forever blacklisted.
Funny
You know, I was thinking two things:
1) I feel kind of sorry for that Craft kid – sort of like leaving a goaltender in a hockey game after he’s already given up 6 goals before the 2nd is done.
2) If Dorrell had made some of the choices the Fucla coaches have on offense, wouldn’t the babybruins nation folks be apoplectic with rage? Instead, I guess they’re just making every excuse possible for “CRN” since he is the fair-haired child. Funny how one guy can be a moron for choosing a pass with less than a minute with a QB who is shaken, but the other guy is given every benefit of every doubt.
Yeeee-Haaaaaw, Rockytop!
Go Bears!
Jeez.
I can’t believe that UT isn’t winning by 3 touchdowns after 3 INTs. You’d think Craft would learn not to throw the ball into triple coverage after the 2nd INT, and that Neuheisel wouldn’t ask him to throw the ball at the end of the half instead of just going into halftime with a tie. Awful coaching on those last 30 seconds of the half.
Go Bears!

Expanding the Pac-10
I always see on sites like Deadspin and The Big Lead people complaining about how the Pac-10 should expand to 12 teams and add Boise St., Fresno St or maybe Hawaii. It’s completely ridiculous because none of those schools have the academic requirements to enter the conference. With the exception of I think Oregon St., the 9 other Pac-10 teams are all ranked in the US News top 100 universities.
What, the commenters or the writers?
The commenters complain about everything. Except the NFL. They LOVE the NFL.
