GameDay Feedback Thread
Just wanted to put up a quick thread for those who commented in the GameDay Open Threads. That was our first time doing, so we are looking for feedback. What worked, what didn't work. What could be changed for future games.
Either post it in here or email us at the contact email. Thanks! We are open to all suggestions and constructive criticism. We want to tailor the best possible GameDay experience for the California Golden Blogs. GO BEARS!

I liked it, being a Cal grad in New York, I was able to get updates faster than Yahoo’s gamechannel by reading the open threads. Also, the autorefresh function works real well, and the shortcuts (z to mark read and tab forward) worked brilliantly.
Someone recommended having 4 threads up for each quarter. I agree that might work better structurally, as ~200 posts per thread was a little ambiguous and hard to tell when you’re posting.
Overall, a great experience for me, I can’t wait till someone gets a few highlight reels up! (Hopefully the whole game, please!)

elbarto83, I’m glad you found the open threads useful. I do think having four open threads (one for each quarter) is a great idea.

I’m going to echo elbarto… having four threads would help us a ton in doing look-back reviews… it would allow us to backtrack and determine what happened in a particular quarter.
Twist:
Frankly I first thought it was over-kill when you put up three threads, but even that proved to be not enough… big ups for fan participation.

elbarto – as soon as I get the game torrent, I’ll have some film up… but the whole game? Hahha….aren’t we getting a bit greedy here?

O please o please put up the whole game! Or is that just out of your mind crazy?
Here’s my story, ever since I got a TV recorder right after the Oregan game, I always wanted to watch a CAL win live and come home and rewatch it on TV. Well, let’s see what happened. OSU, come home incredibly bummed and had to delete the recording. Washington St. wasn’t televised. USC, come home incredibly bummed and wet and had to delete the recording. Air Force, didn’t get to see it live, but re-watched the recording about 10 times.
Fast forward to 2008, I set my recording and double checked it for MSU. Turns out it was the best game ever!!! Come home to anticipate watching our new players for the first time in glorious HD. I wanted to see the detail of the new unis and seeing Riley throw for TDs, morrah’s td, see all of best’s runs, vareen’s runs, Sean young’s catches, follett blowing people up…etc…I’m to find that my recording bugged and only recorded 7 minutes. Now I’m beyond incredibly bummed and been scouring the net for some replays…help me out!!!

whoa, that was quick.
Thanks for posting this… looks like he’s still in the process of uploading this (no seeders except for the originator yet)… once we get more than one seeder then it’ll be super fast.

Looks like only 13% is uploaded currently? I’m helping out by uploading at 1.7 megs a second (45 mbps connection), but am stuck with no seed.

No idea of chicagoaubear/randomtool reads this, but he or she rules the school for getting that up so quickly. I don’t have tivo and I really want to rewatch that game.

Hey Twist and Hydro,
Sorry for getting drunk and belligerent in here last night. I’m not even going to bother reading whatever I said, I know it can’t be good. Great game Bears! Congratulations!

We all know deep down inside, you’re reacting the way you are because you have passion. Passion for Cal Football is good.

What about passion for flashin’? How do you feel about that?

You’re here! We had missed you. Things had been too analytical and important around here. Thanks for lowering the level of discourse!

I agree with the idea for one open thread for each quarter. In addition, perhaps you could have one more open thread for all non-Cal games. I really look forward to these open posts for our away games.

Separate post for non-cal games….This is also a good idea. Some of our Oregon and USC commentary was mixed in with the game thread.

My hesitancy is having multiple threads going at one time. That only leads to dilluting the comments. If you have all the focus at one thread at a time (even if by quarter), then the discussion is better.

Being a SBNation Veteran...
The best way to handle game threads is to have only one active at a time, and as a threshold is reached, to open a new one. This means a site moderator has to be online during the game. Opening additional threads pre-game makes it feel like “nobody is home”.
The threads worked well, and I’m thrilled this site is up and running after TBIOOTF didn’t get any momentum.

Unfortunately, 4 out of the 5 Marshawnthusiasts were at the game and it was unclear what the 5th ones plans were. So, we did what we had to do. I appreciate the suggestions, but sometimes conditions restrict our abilities. I look forward to any other suggestions you might have and love your ANtics!

I think what’s he’s saying is that you should get fired so you can’t afford to go to games. Geez, stop being so dense.

any way to rewatch this?
I was at the game. I set the recording for comcast DVR and it only recorded 7 minutes. I’m beyond bummed. Does anyone know of anyway to rewatch a replay anywhere?
by DavidsonT on Aug 31, 2008 1:40 PM PDT 0 recs
I’m pretty sure Danzig said above he was going to post the whole game in its entirety here. So, there is that.

As soon as someone posts a torrent, i’ll let everyone know. For future non-comcast broadcasts, I’ll record it myself.
