Opening Kickoff Open Thread/Liveblog

Hey guys, how about an opening kickoff liveblog? I'll be crosshosting it here and at my site. This is probably going to be a disaster, but this serves as a test-run for the Cal game on Saturday. All of you guys are invited, and I've sent an invite to the CGB guys to be panelists.

(Except for TwistNHook. He can be the waterboy.)

Avinash, the frames don’t appear to work on my browser. Several other people also have told me the same thing. At this point, this FanPost might be little more than a link to your blog, more or less. I am appreciative of the fact that you love to contribute to this blog and that you have contributed greatly.

But, Avinash, if this is solely just a link to your blog, it might be prudent to delete this FanPost and link to your blog in today’s DBD. Unless you are going to similarly liveblog it in the comments here, which work as well as CoverItLive, if not more so given that others can respond to you.

What are your thoughts on this?

Prefer AJAX over PHP IMHO

Updates faster and is the same functionality… basically. Plus wider margins here and formatting too… Can we have the open thread over here?

The instant update of SBN 2.0 seems better than CoverItLive or anything else as far as Liveblogging is concerned. Why use anything else?

It is, inevitably, a link to content not on this site and no NEW content being created from it. If you want to delete this and move it to the DBD, that’d be cool. If you want to do an open thread here where you are creating new content about the games, then that’d be cool.

Otherwise, you put me in an awkward position. We already have the Jerry Rice Jr. thread to turn into tomorrow’s DBD. So, I either delete that one and use this. Or I delete this and just use that. I don’t want to have to delete any post. And people have actually started a good discussion in the other thread.

Eh, this isn’t a discussion about topics, this is an open thread about ACTUAL GAMES. Being played. You know. Games. Those things this blog exists for.

I just figured there’d be some interest in tonight’s games and there’d be organic discussion. The liveblog is the way I’m covering the game; this thread could be the same. Judging from the lack of comments, I’m guessing there’s none.

Avinash, I think that if you were to liveblog it in the comments here, there would be organic discussion. I know people respect your knowledge and football acumen.

But if you are just doing all the work on another site away from here, I’m not sure how organic the discussion would be here. But I look forward to being proven wrong.

I think what Rags is saying is that if you are depending on him to live blog it with you here the entire night, it won’t happen, because he is about to leave. I doubt he’d be against you liveblogging it here at all.

I do agree that that D player on the potential OSU TD was pretty sly. I think it’s kind of an inane rule, though. They should just pick players up and walk them out of bounds.

Yknow I’m so torn. I don’t want to see Stanford score/do well and Harbaugh be happy. But I tihnk OSU is more likely to challenge Cal in the Pac10 this year. So, technically, we sohuld be rooting for Stanford.
