A Novel Idea for the Gold Out Campaign
We have a Golden opportunity to advertise the Gold-out on local television by standing with the Sign, "GOLD OUT MEMORIAL, AUGUST 30" in front of the Local New's cameras behind the tree-hugger supporter or a reporter. If someone does it between 5 pm and 7 pm, then it might be live. Who's willing to take advantage of some free advertising for the cause? Who's feelin Golden? You might even want to paint yourself Golden. Perhaps, someone can talk their hot gf into wearing a Golden bikini and paint their entire body Golden. Did I say gold enough?
Go Bears! Gold out Memorial!
The opinions expressed in a FanPost are, in every way, reflective of the opinions of every California Golden Blogs Marshawnthusiast. Moreover, they are reflective of every employee of SBNation, including Tyler "Blez" Bleszinski.

Couldn't Hurt to Try
And, by the way, the facebook group for the “Gold Out” has like 1,385 members. I still think that the mot effective way to spread it is through emails to friends, IM, posting things on other blogs, and maybe closer to game week post a bunch of signs around downtown and around campus. Also, if people keep on emailing the AD for info and updates, it might push them a little harder to find a sponsor or give out some free shirts on their own. GOLD OUT!!!

yeah, unfortunately, i don’t think we’ll be able to achieve a true ‘Gold Out’ without athletic department sponsorship (some people don’t own gold shirts, or are in isolated fan pockets), but i think if enough fans clamor for it, athletics will have more incentive to work towards being able to sponsor it.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!

Traditions start by committed fans, not expecting others to do the work...
I know it is the easy road to expect the AD to organize this, but it might not happen to the numbers needed for a Gold-out to occur. I’ve been meaning to go to the Cal store in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek, and ask them if they’d advertise it in their windows, or simply mention the Gold-out to customers. The same thing can be done at the stores in Berkeley. Then, if the AD does come through with 20,000 shirts, while +20,000 other fans buy their own $10 shirt, then it would be a thing of beauty. As a Cal fan of 26 years, that’s my pessimistic perspective, but I think a small majority would make the stadium look electric, and the players would be pumped for our showing of support. Plus, the recruits would be fascinated by our commitment.

you’re right there. we don’t need everyone to participate for this to succeed, just a good-sized majority.
i’m sure the mass email campaign in the couple weeks leading up to the game will help.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
