DBD 5.30.08 MUST...NOT...SPOIL..LOST
I kinda hate On Demand and Tivo and all that. Now you can't talk about a show after it happens. Because people will bitch about how they haven't seen it yet. WELL, GET ON THAT! Because it was good. Nay, really good. Nay, unIMAGINABLY good.
Look, I don't want to ruin last night's ep for anybody. But I can't NOT talk about it. So, here are my top 10 great moments from last night's lost.
10. When Desmond said "Brother."
9. When John Locke credited yet another random natural or geological event to the power of the "Island."
8. When that random scientist dude from the freighter refused to take his skinny tie off for the 15th episode in a row even though the rest of him is covered in dirt, grime, and god knows what else. Really staying classy there, hipster dude.
7. When a series of unknown extras nobody has ever seen before milled around in the back of all the action, as if they had been there the entire time.
6. When Kate looked at Jack and then looked back at Sawyer and then looked back at Jack and then they did a close up on Kate's face.
5. When Hugo said the word "dude" right before eating something he most likely shouldn't have been eating.
4. When Jack smoldered with brutal intensity.
3. When Sawyer called somebody by a random nickname that bears no real relation to that individual person.
2. When Sayid was just plain all around awesome!
1. When Ben spoke in condescendingly vague terms about something that could be easily explained in like 45 solid seconds.
That's just my top 10! What a show!
But some Cal links now. Baseball exists! At the Co Co Times, too!

So, Cal faces off against USD at 2 PM today. GO BEARS! And guys, feel free to put one of these DBD bad boys up in the mornings, if you all y'all want. It's your chance to shine! I can't do them every morning. And judging by the kwality of mine, you don't even want me too!
PS Lost=good!

Breakdown of each regional
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=3417284#longbeach
ESPN’s Aaron Fitt breaks down each regional and team. He says SD has good pitching and defense, and that LBS is much better at home which has a spacious outfield.
As for Cal, he agrees that Cal got the shaft in what he calls the “regional of death.” Also says that aside from Ross and closer Gorgen, Cal’s pitchers have been inconsistent.
Given that Cal’s strength is that of offense, SD’s is pitching, and given the spacious field at LB, I’m feeling kind of nervous about today’s game.
More info
Another SBN blog is streaming some of the games. Cal’s game is not listed on there as of yet. I emailed the proprietor of that blog to ask him whether Cal’s game will be streamed. Once I know more, I’ll pass it along.
Here’s another short preview of the game today.

Ugh.
According to the Corn Nation dude, they are not going to stream the Cal baseball game. sigh

i gave up on lost last year
its comforting to see everything is pretty much the same… at what point will they discover the holiday inn express which the random characters who keep popping up on the island reside at?
you gave up too soon
dude, you should try and catch up. it got way better this year (the end of last season was pretty good too).
i do love the extras, though. they’re totally like the random security officers in Star Trek. like, in the 1st(?) season, when a party of main characters goes out to get some dynamite, and then one of the random guys we’d never seen before decides to tag along, you just know that random guy is doomed. you can see it coming from a mile away.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
David Cooper
ESPN’s Keith Law has 1B David Cooper going sometime in the first round in next week’s draft. Though he calls this year’s draft class relatively weak, he projects Cooper as at least an average big leaguer.
No mention of Tyson Ross, though. Wonder if Ross might actually consider staying…I guess we’ll have to see where he gets drafted.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
Can someone explain to me why baseball players can get drafted
(sometimes 2 or 3 times) and yet elect to go back to college? This isn’t possible in any other sport, is it?

don't even get me started
Baseball’s also the only sports that likes to trumpet its own stupidity and backwardness. Not in so many words, but that’s essentially what it is.
I'm still wondering why the Nets didn't draft Leon Powe.

good question
you know, i have no idea why that is. personally, i think the NBA should be like this too. i mean, how often does a player stay in the draft because he got some bad advice, doesn’t even get drafted, but can’t go back to school? it’s gotta happen at least once or twice a year.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
Same in the NHL
A NHL player can draft a kid before college, the kid can go to college, but the team has to sign the player before they finish college or they lose their rights to that player. I believe the player becomes an UFA at that point.

Man so hard to feel excited about a sport I hate soo much. But as a Cal fan Go Bears!
I used to be RR at the Cal Golden Blogs
Why?
I definitely like some sports more than others, but with the exception of things like ice skating, as a sports fan I get enthusiastic anytime one of my teams is in the playoffs. Heck, pro basketball is pretty down on my list, but when the Warriors were in it, that was exciting . . .

Because I’m Indian. Being Indian means I love cricket. Loving cricket means you hate it’s bastard step-child, baseball.
I used to be RR at the Cal Golden Blogs
Do you also hate American football since it's
the bastard orphan of real “football?”
by oaktownmario on May 30, 2008 9:44 PM PDT up reply actions
I’m half Indian and I can’t stand cricket. I’m not American so I thankfully can’t stand baseball either.

huh?
what? What is this thing ‘Lost’ you speak of? Never heard of it.
Well, put down your damn remote and watch this:

It’s trent edwards talking about his relationship with marshawn @ about 2:43ish, and if you’re interested, the Bills outlook. I think T.C. is a schmuck, but because we hardly saw Trent, I kinda like this guy. He’s a pretty media savvy QB for a furd guy. Not bad. Getting a decent passing game only means good things for marshawn.
I always rather respected Trent
I couldn’t say that I ‘liked’ him, being that he was a Furdie and all, but I could always tell that he had talent. If he only had some sort of offensive line at Stanfurd that could keep him from getting hurt, he might have had a really great collegiate career.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
I think I would have respected Trent
But he was always injured for the Big Game. And I mean always. I don’t remember seeing him play once.
I'm still wondering why the Nets didn't draft Leon Powe.
