Eating the Enemy: Washington And Cal v. DePaul Open Thread
Here is the Eating The Enemy. Plus, Cal is playing against DePaul on CSN California, channel 400 on Comcast. So, use this thread as an Open Thread for the basketball game. Go Bears!
Also, we've started again with that posting. Check it: Interview with Gary Tyrrell, Women's B-Ball Primer. Beastmode. Top25.
Shockingly, there aren't a whole lot of recipes out there for eating huskies. Maybe I should have looked through some Chinese websites. JUST KIDDING I'M CHINESE

Sit down Randle.
Nice early substitution by Monty. Randle was way out of control on that early possession where he got his pocket picked.
We're going to have problems inside tonight
Mac Koshwal may bench Boykin and Wilkes with each hand

Gonna have these problems all year. Probably next year too since there is no size coming into the program except for a very raw Bak Bak.
I’m struggling to get the Cal game on. Right now, I’m losing and we are watching Seinfeld. But its Seinfeld, so thats not THAT bad!

I watched that episode too! But that was before I realized the Cal game was on. Does this mean there is a slight possibility I’m your wife????

Still happy over the fact that the Nets signed Ryan Anderson. Now if only they can sign Leon Powe after this year...
Wow, Cal Bball on TV, how about that?
Christopher looking great, interior d not so much
And then Zhang gets a block?!?!?
He is really 5'7 or 5'8
I stood behind both DeVon Hardin and Randle at Nation’s. Funny duo.

Much, much better than expected 39-25 at half
Playing good inside and on D… Hitting our open shots when they are not

At the beginning of the telecast the announcers were trying to play up DePaul
Any truth to that? If we hold on to win is that a big deal?
If we win like we're doing now, YES
but if we give up a whole lot of points and offensive rebounds and break away from the game we’re playing now, only holding onto the win would be MEH

Did Katie Morgan really win the pole vaulting national championship while injured? That is impressive, if true. Go Bers!

Certainly there can't be another Bear pole vaulter beyond Alison Stokke, right?
because then the internets would be lying!
Why are the athletes at Cal so good looking? Kat Reilly, Morgan Beck, Will T, Allison Stokke…

I hope his knee is back to form come conference time

Winner
Hey, this works out well for everybody. The Bears get the win and if you took the Bears to cover (-9), they covered!

Looking at the stats
Cal seemed to do well on the boards despite being undersized compared to DePaul. DePaul’s 11 missed free throws also probably helped things out a bit.
Good win, and hopefully we’ll be able to watch more on TV in the future
Robertson had 9 stealth assists
He made some good touch passes when they stopped his shot

Nice to have a well-coached team, eh?
This team isn’t necessarily talented, but they play good basketball and get after it on defense. The one concern seems to be rebounding (the big edge tonight was courtesy of Depaul’s horrible shooting percentage). With a healthy Harper Kamp, this could be a VERY competitive team in conference play during a rebuilding year for the Pac-10. Is Cal becoming a basketball school????
First game I've watched this year
1. It’s nice to see them actually run credible plays on offense….
2. Gutierrez looked awful. Not sure why he’s getting so many minutes.
3. Zhang will be good.
The A's colors are green and gold.
Whaddya mean
Becoming a basketball school?
- Leon “Pac 10 Tourney MVP” Powe
(plus, you know, that one NCAA Championship, one NCAA runner-up, Jason Kidd, upsetting Duke, Lamond Murray, Kevin Johnson, Darrell Imhoff, Michael “Yogi” Stewart, Sean Marks, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Sean Lampley, Ayinde Ubaka and Monty Buckley all beg to differ)
Wow!
I sense a little sensitivity about the “basketball school” comment. I only mean that, when Tedford and Braun were on campus together, the basketball program essentially went from mediocre to irrelevant — with the exception of the individuals you mention (by the way, I like the inclusion of Aussie wunderkind Sean Marks and Monty “I never saw a backpack I didn’t like” Buckley, but leaving off Ryan Anderson, who will likely end up one of the top 5 players ever at Cal). Meanwhile, Tedford has built the program into an annual contender. Most of the folks I went to school with during the J Kidd years have just stopped watching the hoops team, while everyone continues to live and die by our so-close-to-the-Roses-I-can-taste-the-thorns football team during the Tedford era.
I merely mean that Montgomery is an outstanding coach who will likely lead the Bears to the Final Four before he hangs it up, and Joanne Boyle will win a national title — it’s just a matter of time. As for the Rose Bowl, who knows? That’s all I’m sayin’….
