The Ghost of Tedford Past

Evidently those jolly Ducks up in Eugene still have nightmares about the one that got away! They recently announced a deal where their current OC (and Tedford wanna-be) will be the heir apparent to the Head Coaching job when Pornstache Bellotti finally retires.
The time table isn't firm, but apparently Bellotti will be heading for the AD gig in a year or two, and Chip Kelly will take over the Duck program.
Hopefully he'll have more spine in terms of saying no to silly unis and scary mascots.
The opinions expressed in a FanPost are not necessarily those of the California Golden Blogs or any of its authors. However, they are just as important as the opinions of any of the authors. And doubly so as compared to TwistNHook!

This was a smart move
Continuity helps with recruiting and with the kids getting better with the playbook and thus minimizes mistakes.
The Ducks’ offense has been pretty scary for the Pac10 (except us) since Kelly got there… and if they can put up 700 yards with the joke of a passer that Masoli is… then Kelly must be doing something right.

Why?
Because this strategy of prematurely appointing a successor worked so well for Arizona basketball.

it probably would have worked a little better if lute olsen hadn’t have waffled back and forth on leaving for three years.

It probably would have worked a little better if Lute Olsen's judgment and personal skills hadn't been affected by brain damage

Ok, I can’t think of anyone for whom it’s worked, but it’s gotta be a good idea, right?
