I just want to win.

Please.

Please.

Nate, throw some beauties. (And give the ball more to Best)

+1

God I want a beer so bad. Nate is making me knock my head on the wall to get that numbing feeling I need.

Satisfactory 1st half

I’ve seen worse from the Bears offense this year. I guess they’re just going to run Jahvid into the ground in the 2nd half.

by BearsNecessity on Dec 27, 2008 6:38 PM PST reply actions

I think we still need the pass… so we need to just have Nate hit Morrah and Shane over and over … with Jahvid mixed in. Nate cannot find a WR to save his future… which is exactly what’s at risk right now.

by danzig on Dec 27, 2008 6:40 PM PST up reply actions

Or he chooses the wrong WR.

Even on that last play (4th down), he threw it to to someone in double coverage.

by tjalorak on Dec 27, 2008 6:41 PM PST up reply actions

not sure why we don’t run more quick slant plays…

Interesting we’ve used a lot of screen passes to the side. Plays are telegraphed pretty well.

Hopefully setting something up later.

I know! We’ve gone to that play too many times.

We haven’t been able to screen since 2006.

One thing to watch is Harris

I don’t think he’s played a complete game all year. Will he be able to keep it up for an entire game?

More Best please…especially passing game

I hate to say this, but I am so done with Nate. Tedford made me sad with his end of half comment.

I can accept a sophomore being inconsistent, but how Nate has regressed is simply astounding. Sad.

by OskiMonsta on Dec 27, 2008 6:42 PM PST reply actions

Snort

Riley’s injured. What’s he supposed to do, throw Nate under the bus? He’s doing PR spin; watch the sidelines and you can see how displeased he is with Longshore’s play.

by BearsNecessity on Dec 27, 2008 6:44 PM PST up reply actions

Is Riley really injured?

I just pray we don’t end up with some sort of Riley/Mansion controversy next year with no one emerging as the man.

Diamonds are forever, but emeralds are cool too.

by OskiMonsta on Dec 27, 2008 6:46 PM PST up reply actions

Don’t tell me you actually believed JT… I think that was just spin. He’s ripping Nate’s head off right now.

by danzig on Dec 27, 2008 6:46 PM PST up reply actions

I sort of wish Longshore would show some emotion

Not getting frustrated that is, but showing passion for the game. The whole stare into the distance only works if it helps him concentrate but it doesn’t even seem to be doing that.

by tjalorak on Dec 27, 2008 6:46 PM PST reply actions

Yeah, I wish he was more like Brett Favre too.

by BearsNecessity on Dec 27, 2008 6:47 PM PST up reply actions

You have to be cool

But it’s almost as if he has not passion to win… I think that’s what TJ means. He either looks stoic or shell shocked… I would prefer PISSED to those two.

by danzig on Dec 27, 2008 6:48 PM PST up reply actions

Dude, this could be his last start ever, on any field. How would you feel?

by BearsNecessity on Dec 27, 2008 6:49 PM PST up reply actions

I’d feel fired up… pissed…

I’d be yelling at my OL on the sidelines… I’d be ripping the head off of Norris and Boskovitch… I’d be telling my WRs to push off and try to get away with it. Plus I’d start stepping into my throws… Nate is on his heels tonight.

by danzig on Dec 27, 2008 6:50 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, but you’re crazy.

by BearsNecessity on Dec 27, 2008 6:51 PM PST up reply actions

O-Line play has been bad all season though, no?

Or are you saying that this is worse than expected?

by tjalorak on Dec 27, 2008 6:52 PM PST up reply actions

Edwards, Boskovich and Malele are even worse than usual though. It’s pretty much Schwartz, Ta’ufo’ou and Mack driving the line.

by BearsNecessity on Dec 27, 2008 6:53 PM PST up reply actions

Miami has a good DL and they are blitzing Nate, which is what any DC with half a brain should do.

Diamonds are forever, but emeralds are cool too.

by OskiMonsta on Dec 27, 2008 6:53 PM PST up reply actions

So? Feelings going into the second half?

Nervous? Excited?

Second half going to be better or worse?

by tjalorak on Dec 27, 2008 6:54 PM PST reply actions

Nervous

Mainly because we’’ve been displaying this tendency to play worse in the second half of games (or at least that’s what I perceive— haven’t done any statistical analysis to back up that claim)

by Mister Pie on Dec 27, 2008 6:56 PM PST up reply actions

Pretty confident in the D and Jahvid, but we probably need 5-7 decent completions to win. Otherwise we will keep seeing 8-9 in the box.

Diamonds are forever, but emeralds are cool too.

by OskiMonsta on Dec 27, 2008 6:56 PM PST up reply actions

If Harris throws well next quarter we could be in trouble.

by BearsNecessity on Dec 27, 2008 6:57 PM PST up reply actions

I guess that's better than out of bounds

Diamonds are forever, but emeralds are cool too.

by OskiMonsta on Dec 27, 2008 6:58 PM PST reply actions

Ouch.

We’re about to see 8-9 guys in the box every down now on offense.

by tjalorak on Dec 27, 2008 6:59 PM PST reply actions

1st half breakdown

15 passes for longshore….

8 passes where he locked in on his first read
4 where he actually looked off to his second or third read
3 passes where he was pressured or it was a designed play (ie screen, etc)

In other words hydro. You can’t tell me that Longshore looks to his second read the majority of times. 1st half grade a solid D.

If Miami makes any adjustments whatsoever we are fucked in the second half.

And a freshman QB is still outplaying our chosen QB.

Uuuuuugh.

Well, this Cal offense is going to have to respond.

by OskiMonsta on Dec 27, 2008 7:15 PM PST up reply actions

Nate doesn’t improve.. he always fades… the pass isn’t going to change. We have to make plays running and on defense and special teams. That’s how we win. When’s the last time you saw Nate get stronger going into the 4Q?

by danzig on Dec 27, 2008 7:15 PM PST up reply actions

Hmm… he did have a good 3Q. Good point. However he did fade in the 4Q during that game too… then his ankle was rolled.

by danzig on Dec 27, 2008 7:17 PM PST up reply actions

I expect Nate to win the game. This is the way it should end for him.

by turkey on Dec 27, 2008 7:20 PM PST reply actions

I don’t think Tedford’s going to put Riley in, and that crowd is NOT going to do any help for Longshore.

by BleedinBlue on Dec 27, 2008 7:20 PM PST reply actions

Mneh, I don’t think it even matters that Riley’s hurt. It’d be a cold start for him, no way Tedford puts him in. Crowd needs to get that!

by BleedinBlue on Dec 27, 2008 7:23 PM PST up reply actions

Seriously.

At this point, we might as well not have a QB.

Run the formation with Back as the nominal “QB” position and Vereen in the backfield.

I think this is officially our worst passing performance of the year. So far. But hey, it’s tied and we have Jahvid!!!
