Grabbed from ESPN.com. No music or sound, I just posted it, as is.

BTW: Frost/Nixon is just not bad… avoid THe Day the Earth Stood Still like the black plague.

so Frost/Nixon is good? Or just ok?

The opinions expressed in a FanPost are not necessarily those of the California Golden Blogs or any of its authors. However, they are just as important as the opinions of any of the authors. And doubly so as compared to TwistNHook!

supposed to be one of the better movies of the year. also heard The Day the Earth is one of the worst movies…ever. The Wrestler was awesome.

Valkyrie looks really good. I’m quite excited to see it.

I have no new information on that at this time.

by Rishi on Dec 23, 2008 10:53 AM PST up reply actions

is it unfair that Tom Cruise’s heavy involvement with Scientology makes me less inclined to see his movies?

So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!

by ragnarok on Dec 23, 2008 11:32 AM PST up reply actions

I feel the same way, but I don’t think it’s wrong. I think the guy is so annoying that I can no longer see him as a credible protagonist… and it ruins all his movies for me. Plus he sometimes can be a horrible actor. The crappy part is that he always gets the best projects so we’re all forced to watch him from time to time.

Movies in which Tom Cruise smiles: He ruins it.
Movies in which Tom Cruise never smiles: He’s a non factor.

by danzig on Dec 23, 2008 11:43 AM PST up reply actions

That happens all the time, but you’re missing out because he’s still a good actor and he gets some really good movies.

I have no new information on that at this time.

by Rishi on Dec 24, 2008 10:22 AM PST up reply actions

I’ve seen a lot of his older movies. Has he made anything in the last 5 years that shouldn’t have been missed?

So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!

by ragnarok on Dec 24, 2008 11:29 AM PST up reply actions

Hmm, not really since Minority Report.

Collateral I really liked, but that was more due to the awesomeness of Jamie Foxxxxxxxxxxx. Definitely would highly recommend it though.

MI: 3 was enjoyable, but not “zomg don’t miss it!”

Tropic Thunder I’ve heard really good things about, but can’t comment on due to the whole “I have not seen it” factor.

Screw it, Tom Cruise is a scientologist, but Slumdog Millionaire rocks!

I have no new information on that at this time.

by Rishi on Dec 24, 2008 2:06 PM PST up reply actions

Agree on your assessment of Collateral. Good movie, not necessarily because of Tom Cruise.

Tropic Thunder was really very funny. I didn’t know Tom was in the movie until halfway through, his character was pretty well disguised. Plus, he was playing a total douchebag, so I didn’t bother me thinking “you’re a total douchebag” every time I saw him on screen. Robert Downey Jr. was definitely the best part of the movie, though.

So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!

by ragnarok on Dec 24, 2008 3:56 PM PST up reply actions

Rain Man?

That was an awesome movie that Tom Cruise was in. But that was awesome b/c of the story and Dustin Hoffman.

Also A Few Good Men had Tom Cruise and it too was a good movie.

In other words, Go Bears!

by royrules22 on Dec 25, 2008 2:32 AM PST up reply actions

I was just pointing out movies in the past five years.

Tom Cruise has been in a number of excellent movies in his career. Enjoyable films like Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and, of course, the classic Risky Business; as well as dramatic ones like A Few Good Men, Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, and The Firm.

He’s had a great career, but he’s been really obnoxious with forcing his beliefs and that hatred has manifested itself recently.

I saw Valkyrie last night and it’s really a good movie. Completely worth watching. A lot of the negative press is really just hatred against Cruise and it’s pathetic – review the movie, not the person.

I have no new information on that at this time.

by Rishi on Dec 26, 2008 8:20 AM PST up reply actions

I didn't realize you were talking about recent movies... my bad

I want to watch Valkyrie. I have a tendency to not care about the actor itself when I watch a movie as long as the movie is good. So I never had an intention of spurning Valkyrie just because of Cruise

In other words, Go Bears!

by royrules22 on Dec 26, 2008 12:03 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed, especially if the only reason not to like the actor is personal reasons.

I have no new information on that at this time.

by Rishi on Dec 26, 2008 12:46 PM PST up reply actions

It's just okay

I guess you can say the performances were good, but the movie itself lacked suspense for me. Since I know so little of Nixon history, I guess most of the interesting facts blew right past me. Doesn’t compare with Nixon… or other great political thrillers such as JFK, Contender, 13 Days etc.. Go watch Slumdog Millionaire.

by danzig on Dec 23, 2008 11:22 AM PST up reply actions

Agreed on the Slumdog Millionaire.

Plus I have a massive crush on the girl who plays Latika (adult version, not child version). Think I’m gonna watch it again tomorrow.

I have no new information on that at this time.

by BearsNecessity on Dec 23, 2008 4:51 AM PST reply actions

does anyone else find it difficult to actually know who’s got the ball until he’s like 5 yards past the line of scrimmage? Maybe it’s the long-distance video. While I wish it was because it’s hard to find him, I think it might be more likely that Cottonwood’s spread option is full of confusing misdirection type of plays.

BTW, anyone know what’s up with the Forbes Report in the lower right hand corner?

The Forbes Report is a recruiting service that ESPN uses and presumably a bunch of HS and college coaches use as well. The tape games, put together videos and assist in rating players.

It'll be just you, me, and Peter Nincompoop.

Danzig, are you going to the Emerald Bowl? Come to the CGB tailgate!

I have no new information on that at this time.

by Rishi on Dec 23, 2008 9:30 AM PST reply actions

Danzig is fixing the economy. What’s more important, him meeting you, or him bailing out the financial services industry?

by BearsNecessity on Dec 23, 2008 10:08 AM PST up reply actions

Dangiz and I can team up!

Except, while we’re teamed, he’ll be crunching numbers and coming up with plans, while I’ll make 500 posts on CGB, 90% of which will consist of “This”, “I think the Giants did that last year”, and “lol wut”.

I have no new information on that at this time.

This news is stunning. Absolutely stunning. Without the “z” key capability of SBN 2.0, I wouldnt even know how to read the DBDs.

Please disregard the above ramblings as those of a clearly delusional fan.

Yes. I use it often. However, when there are 300 comments in a DBD, hitting Z is quite easier.
