Texas
at this point we don't know where Texas will end up but i think we can all agree that it would be poetic if Mack Brown was kept out of the big 12 championship game and naitonal title game because of some lobbying by Bob Stoops. If the BCS voters place Oklahoma ahead of Texas after last nights unreal victory Texas will be left with BCS scraps. Adding this little cherry onto the top of the chocolate sunday that is our big game victory makes me happy.
Go Bears!

Holiday Bowl
I guess is either Texas or Texas Tech.
it will be interesting to see how far OU moves up…while OU lost to UT by a relatively close game on a pseudo neutral field (hey…Dallas is in TX)…they blew their common opponent out!
While it would be nice to match up against Texas in the Holiday Bowl for revenge purposes…I think I like our chances vs. Texas Tech. OU might be ok if Cal can move the ball on offense (theme of the year).
Washington is a HUGE trap game. They are bad. They lost to Wazzou (and everyone else). Nonetheless…Cal needs to take care of business next week.
Beating a Big12S team in the Holiday Bowl should provide a lofty preseason ranking going into next year…
The Maharg makes me look like an idiot.
Holiday Bowl will be the Big 12's 4 place team
because 2 BCS, 1 Cotton, then Holiday
I think it’s going to be Missouri, which I like the most out of all the match-ups.
All this still depends on Oregon State though…

Mizzou
would be a good matchup.
Frankly, I’m a little scared any one of the Big12S teams could blow out Cal…but it looks like we won’t have to worry about that.
P.S. How do they determine say places 3-6 in the Big 12? Record, head to head, and then BCS rank? Okie St’s got a good record too…would they be ahead of Mizzou?

What if OkState beats Oklahoma? Does that change anything?

If OSU wins next weekend
(and that’s still a formidable IF)…it would be an OSU-PSU rematch in the Rose Bowl…no one likes rematches…but one could argue OSU is vastly different since it played PSU early in the year. I like their chances. Two BCS bowl victories bring hefty paychecks to all Pac10 schools.
The Maharg makes me look like an idiot.
I’m definitely rooting for OSU, even though I do enjoy our Duck brethren up north. But Cal doesn’t have friends, it has interests.

quizz might be injured...
Canfield’s a better passer than Moevoe I think. It should be a great Civil War in Corvallis.

I’m hoping OSU makes it to the Rose Bowl as well. I was feeling pretty spiteful after we lost up there, but now that I’ve had some time to think about it I think it will be good for Cal and good for the conference if OSU makes it, as that would be two BCS bowls for the Pac 10 and Cal would probably head to the Holiday Bowl.
Plus, the more I hear from Mike Riley the more he seems like a class guy. The Pac 10 (and CFB in general) can always use more of them.

The Bear Will Not Die
Here is what’s weird. Cal is aided in making the H-Bowl, I believe, by LOSING to OSU. If we had won, USC would have gotten the auto-bid and OSU wouldn’t have gotten an at-large. But if OSU wins out and gets the auto-bid, USC still will (most likely) get an at-large.
Am I wrong in my understanding here?

no...you're right
I think this is the only way for 2 Pac-10 teams to make the BCS game (so much for a down year in the Pac-10!). The at-large team will only be a 2nd place USC team. If Cal was in USC position and USC was in Cal’s position (confused yet?) I bet the at-large committee would look over Cal. USC has earned a reputation and they play great football.

It's seriously too bad that there's no building or complex around that might have a large supply of sports drinks.
If we beat OSU, we’d be 6-2 in the Pac-10… good enough for a tie wth Oregon, OSU for 2nd. Since we’d have the tiebreaker, we’d go to the Holiday Bowl in that scenario too.

Not necessarily. The Holiday Bowl doesn’t work with tie-breakers, and aren’t required to take the 2nd place team in the Pac-10. They just get the 2nd choice – after the Rose Bowl.
It's spelled "S-h-u-p-o-o-p-i".
true
although we have heard a Holiday Bowl official state that if given the choice between two tied teams, they would use the head-to-head tiebreaker as a deciding factor.
basically, if Oregon wants to go the Holiday Bowl, they’d better win the Civil War.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
