I’ll be wearing a blue shirt. Probably will either say “CALIFORNIA” or “BERKELEY” unless I go for the “FUCK STANFURD” shirt I own. Probably will be wearing a hat too, a Cal Football helmet hat with the Holiday Bowl logo on the side. Will probably be right on the 50 in the student section usually around row 50. If you don’t find me, if you happen to find TwistNHook, he will probably point me out to you.

Rulon Davis getting some NFL Draft notice

from Todd McShay

4. Rulon Davis, DE/OLB, California
Davis has been through injury, illness, junior college and a tour of duty with the Marines to Iraq to reach this point. We fell in love with his potential while breaking down his pre-season tape last summer and he continued to flash special qualities early in 2008. Davis was inconsistent, though, and missed four games due to a foot injury, which only added to the list of concerns. However, he returned to the lineup two weeks ago and turned in a season-best performance versus Oregon State, which included a sack, forced fumble and a pass breakup. Considering his combination of size, power and speed, it won’t be surprising if Davis shoots up a lot of draft boards between now and April.

at times Rulon reminds me of Reggie White...

size, upper body strength, and long arms…

He certainly has potential, but his biggest negative is injury history.

Yeah, he might get drafted, but it’ll be late—he’s missed half his games at Cal.

Stanford appeared to lack focus:

“I’m not one to be big-headed or anything like that, but we don’t belong on the same field as those guys,” linebacker Worrell Williams said. “We have way more athletes than those guys, and we’re more fundamentally sound than those guys. We’re better than those guys. The times where we don’t show it is because we don’t prove it. We make mistakes. Other than that, when we go out and play our game they can’t compete with us, and it showed today.”

Defensive end Rulon Davis added: “Especially in the second half, you could see that their eyes were wandering, they weren’t very focused. Stanford’s a good team and all, but if you ask me the question (whether the Cardinal looked frustrated as the game went on), I’m going to tell you the truth. They didn’t know where the blitz was coming a lot of the time.”

Stanford made a mock Daily Cal saying Best broke his ankle getting off the team bus. Did anyone manage to get a copy of this?

Davis was especially excited to get the axe:

Senior defensive end Rulon Davis sprinted to the sideline Saturday after Cal’s 37-16 win in the 111th Big Game and grabbed the Stanford Axe. He held it high above his head as fans and even his teammates tried to touch it.

Even a police officer tried to take the Axe, but that was a no-go. Asked if he would have yielded the trophy to anyone, even coach Jeff Tedford, Davis said, “Negative.”

“They ripped it out of our hands last year, and we had to do the same thing to them,” said Davis, who had three tackles, including two for losses, and 1.5 sacks in Saturday’s game in Berkeley. “It feels good to accomplish something great. This team really needed that after a couple of losses.”

I was all bummed when my buddy game a copy of the paper, but then I read the academic thing and thought that it was bullshit. I like to think that if Best broke his ankle CGB would have know.

by CountDuku on Nov 24, 2008 8:53 AM PST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I didn’t see that until after the game started. And by that point, I had seen Best practicing before the game and run off the field.

But it was a good prank!

the carp's

sat behind 2 of Mike Mohamed’s fly sisters (jailbait?)…they say he’s got 5 total sisters and they live 2 h E of San Diego on the Mexican border. One was wearing a yellow jersey and the other was wearing a blue jersey…both looked like game quality jerseys that he got customized for them. They refered to him as “Mikey” and I thought they were going to flash the crowd after his INT. They went berserk.

What a great win that was…I loved the hook & ladder play!

To quote Billy Beane, "That's your prerogative."

I think Beane says that all the time.

I didn’t bring my camera. Even if I did, I’m not sure how I’d be able to pull off taking a pic of two jailbait-age ladies with my wife sitting next to me. I’m certainly not making the story up…I’m just reporting my experiences. I have no idea if they were telling the truth or not. I certainly didn’t ask for two forms of government ID.

For what it’s worth, my wife thinks they were lying and that they’re girlfriends of “mikey.”

The Maharg makes me look like an idiot.

I walked by them going to the stadium. The holiday bowl patches on game used jerseys are a good give away for family members.
