This is a sick photo… the top of the campanile seems to be glowing. Nice shot Turkey.
1) 3 second exposure?
2) are you using a starburst filter of some kind or is that photoshop?

20 seconds, f/11, 31mm focal length.
No filter, there were a few clouds right behind the tower, and well sometimes you forget to clean your lens and get luck with the results….

Yeah, the clouds are sick… they make the image… and the lens glare was a real nice touch…(even if it was accidental). You should take more artistic photos of the campus…. i really dig looking at your pics.
Can I ask what camera you’re using?

Nikon D50, nothing too fancy, just their 2 year old low end dslr.
It’s amazing what a tripod and things lit up in neat colors can do.
There’s some new vegetation around the small reflecting pool at the bottom of Memorial Glade. It gets in the way of the reflections from the library and campanile. I was disappointed.

whoa, I wouldn’t call it low end… it still a damn expensive camera… and it’s a favorite of the Flikr community and they know their shit. It’s about 4x what I would ever spend on a camera. And isn’t it all really about the lenses anyway… ?
You going to the Big Game? WIll you be taking pictures?

Eh, it’s a definite step up from the point and shoot, this is true. The lens is more important than the camera when it’s all said and done, but with the turn over in the digital market, you can find good deals on used gear.
I’m going to the game, although I don’t know if I’m going to lug the camera around. There might be too much beer consumption to make that a wise choice. I think I’ll bring it out of the UW game if the weather holds, it’ll be less hectic.

Thanks for the picture. My favorite part of Big Game week was always seeing the Campanile lighted up blue.

What happened to the script Cal and the cannon on the Campanile?
And the blue and gold lights on the library?
They were up last night?
It's seriously too bad that there's no building or complex around that might have a large supply of sports drinks.

I was wondering the same thing. Usually the library is lit up blue and gold too. And the Campanile has either a cannon or a Cal script or “Go Bears” or something on it. In fact, my desktop background at work is a blue and gold Campanile with a “Go Bears” projected on it from the 2005 big game week.

Yeah, I was hoping that would be there, but it wasn’t meant to be. It’s possible they only put those up on Friday for the Bonfire??
The library had a few blue lights, nothing major, though.
