Once again Cal has shown us that they are not worthy of the praise, national rankings that have been given to them this year.
I fail to see why anyone would consider ranking Cal again until they can show the football world that they deserve it. The wonderful tradition of Cal never being a consistent team still continues to this day since I started following the team way back in 1974. We were happy then with a 2-9 or 3-8 season. We expected nothing more from the Bears. Now with all the inflated hype of the Tedford years, we have come to expect something from this team, and we have been mislead.
I think Tedford has lost whatever magic he had. What can Cal offer a prospective player if they sign? A QB which will most likely throw an interception at the worst possible time to kill I don't now how many drives....
The Rose Bowl is once again a fantasy, and why would they pick a probable 6-6 team for some "Who Gives A Damn Bowl" game.
It used to be fun to watch Cal as you knew they were going to lose, the fun part being never quite knowing just how they were going to screw it up. Today we have to realize that we have been sold a bill of goods. They are not a good team and we have to get over the hype that is making us think they are a competitor anymore. What kind of team has to rely on a long special teams run back on scoring?
I long for those happy 2-9 days when we had no expectations. I think that soon those days will be back, and sooner than you think.
