offense looks familiar

so very bad.

defnese looks fine, offense looked great on opening scoring drive, now it looks sluggish

Offense looks mediocre, defense looks okay, special teams are miserable (responsible for both OSU touchdowns).

very little offense on either side

But OSU has two huge kick returns and Cal only one

by JoshinPortland on Nov 15, 2008 1:22 PM PST up reply actions

Eh… Our defense has started giving up big plays.

That defense was Oregon-like

Very few rules in life

But a good defense doesn’t give up a first down on 2nd and 30.

by BearsNecessity on Nov 15, 2008 1:23 PM PST reply actions

Sigh. Everything looked so good in the first two minutes, and now everything looks so bad in the last 14.

by sec119 on Nov 15, 2008 1:23 PM PST reply actions

I'm hoping things will play out like the Oregon game

Ugly start, d picks up the pace and the O finds a rhythm. I’m not too optimistic though

by norcalnick on Nov 15, 2008 1:25 PM PST up reply actions

Great play by a d-lineman

sniffed the screen and covered Rodgers at the line

by norcalnick on Nov 15, 2008 1:25 PM PST reply actions

Two good d-line plays in a row.

by sec119 on Nov 15, 2008 1:26 PM PST up reply actions

Whew. D is picking it up… but it feels about time for OSU to bust a big play :(

by BleedinBlue on Nov 15, 2008 1:26 PM PST reply actions

Did you see the block by Rodgers on that last tipped ball?

Would’ve been a sack.

Another great block by Jacquizz.

Might be the best part of his game.

Instead of bringing pressure, they bring only 3

just like on 2nd and 30 and 3rd and 15…

www.californiagoldenblogs.com

by CBKWit on Nov 15, 2008 1:31 PM PST reply actions

OSU has two senior receivers...

I think Cal has a better chance of bringing pressure. Morales is finding holes in the zone.

They’d probably do better with man to man coverage in long yardage situations.

by BearsNecessity on Nov 15, 2008 1:34 PM PST up reply actions

according to whom?

I know that we often dropped 8 last year against OSU and made Canfield look like Peyton Manning

www.californiagoldenblogs.com

by CBKWit on Nov 15, 2008 1:33 PM PST up reply actions

Well that was on 2nd/3rd short situations and our pass rush sucked last year. We’ve done pretty well rushing 3 this year.

by BearsNecessity on Nov 15, 2008 1:34 PM PST up reply actions

No

Two critical plays in last years OSU game. 3rd and 8 & 3rd and 15. Rushed 3 both times and gave up critical first downs both times.

Though I agree that we have been much better rushing 3 this year than last year.

long steady drives are not part of the Cal offensive package

it’s clearly a strategy on Tedford’s part to confuse our opponents – defenses get befuddled when they get too much rest.

that first kickoff was pretty great.

would have been a td if not for the facemask. Best is a much better kick return than DeSean, just not the punt returner.

ALL WE NEED TO DO...

is punt it out of bounds…

and KOR at an angle… (though with Georgio, that might be difficult without kicking it out of bounds)

= then we win this game.

Well, isolate him to tight end coaching. Punting and kicking always goes down as the games wear on.

our tight end play has also been spectacular

if I had a dime for every time Eric Beegun dropped a pass…

announcer uses the phrase "potpourri" in a football broadcast... FAIL

You, sir, automatically LOSE.

I haven't seen that many tear-stained dollar bills since my dad hired a stripper for my uncle's funeral.

Riley is passing 35%

But he’s being rushed CONSTANTLY… so it’s the OL too. Need more draws and misdirection and screens to make them lay off.
