no matter how much you hate longshore...

you gotta admit he’s handled the whole situation very well

by elbarto83 on Nov 1, 2008 2:25 PM PDT reply actions

We’ll see. Still two quarters left.

by BearsNecessity on Nov 1, 2008 2:26 PM PDT up reply actions

If we fall behind, then I’ll get worried. I generally don’t worry about Nate unless we’re in that situation.

I like Nate though; think he might become a coach if the NFL doesn’t pan out?

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:27 PM PDT up reply actions

I dunno; those 4th quarter Riley explosions usually have him getting warm through out the 1st 3 quarters. I doubt we’ll switch unless Nate starts throwing ints, like at UA

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:29 PM PDT up reply actions

I’d like him to be successful as a coach but I dont know if he has enough fire and energy in him to do it. He always seems so laid back

by LostRenegade7 on Nov 1, 2008 2:29 PM PDT up reply actions

longshore also dislikes going through his progressions.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 2:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Still, I don’t see how that would impact his coaching ability. Just because he doesn’t do it doesn’t mean he won’t tell someone else to do it.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:33 PM PDT up reply actions

hehe, so here’s what i was thinking. if he wants to coach, he’d prolly start out as a qb coach right? so he might be able to teach his young qb’s to not lock onto their receivers… something that he has been known to do at times.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 2:35 PM PDT up reply actions

we should be up by more...

and be shutting them out. the 5 turnovers = close game.

it shows you how well cal is playing that they are leading by 10 even after all that.

i wouldnt be surprised if they change qb’s though. masoli looks bad passing.

by falseintellect on Nov 1, 2008 2:32 PM PDT reply actions

Roper wouldn’t do much better.

by BearsNecessity on Nov 1, 2008 2:35 PM PDT up reply actions

But it is raining, so it is not like the turnovers are really unexpected.

I can’t really see how we could have played any better in this game after the Oregon score. For that point on we had four turnovers, missed two field goals and still went on a 16-0 run

by Tedfordisgod on Nov 1, 2008 2:35 PM PDT up reply actions

anyone else surprised that both teams seem to be passing more than rushing against each other?

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 2:37 PM PDT up reply actions

ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG

So I’ve been out all day until now.

WHY IS LONGSHORE IN THE GAME

Still happy over the fact that the Nets signed Ryan Anderson. Now if only they can sign Leon Powe after this year...

by yellow fever on Nov 1, 2008 2:37 PM PDT reply actions

and why does vereen have three times as many carries as Jahvid?

Still happy over the fact that the Nets signed Ryan Anderson. Now if only they can sign Leon Powe after this year...

by yellow fever on Nov 1, 2008 2:37 PM PDT up reply actions

i think best is having extra ball security problems because of his bulky arm brace + the slick ball.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 2:39 PM PDT up reply actions   1 recs

kevin riley got hit hard on a run, possibly concussed. he’s been on the sidelines ever since.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 2:37 PM PDT up reply actions

Definitely concussed. I’ve had a concussion before; I felt like how Riley looked, that’s for sure. You feel ok after 30-1hr or so, though.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:40 PM PDT up reply actions

I’m thinking if he does have a concussion, he’s not getting back in the game.

Still happy over the fact that the Nets signed Ryan Anderson. Now if only they can sign Leon Powe after this year...

by yellow fever on Nov 1, 2008 2:40 PM PDT up reply actions

certainly seems unlikey today...

longshore has been pressured but if there is one thing he is good at it’s getting rid of the ball quickly to avoid a sack.

by falseintellect on Nov 1, 2008 2:41 PM PDT up reply actions

WHAM!

Still happy over the fact that the Nets signed Ryan Anderson. Now if only they can sign Leon Powe after this year...

by yellow fever on Nov 1, 2008 2:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Because Longshore is the savior

by DougOLis on Nov 1, 2008 2:48 PM PDT up reply actions

Oregon held to 76 total yds in the 1st half.

And Cal D is fresh and rested for the second half. Oregon likes to run a defense ragged chasing them side to side so they are worn out later in the game, but that won’t happen today. Cal D has hardly been on the field at all… they’re not even warmed up yet!

by GBear98 on Nov 1, 2008 2:45 PM PDT up reply actions

nate's had two of his best days as qb

against oregon. hope he can continue that for two more quarters.

by falseintellect on Nov 1, 2008 2:42 PM PDT reply actions

I would argue that Oregon broke him last year though XD

Just like how we broke Dennis Dixon the year before :P

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:44 PM PDT up reply actions

i hope so too. though this is doing any favors to our quarterback controversy. on the other hand, we are lucky that losing our starting qb did not cripple our offense.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 2:44 PM PDT up reply actions

I concur. If nothing else, this should serve as some validation to show that Tedford wasn’t just blindly loyal to Longshore…although it may muddle things once again once Riley’s ready to play.

Still happy over the fact that the Nets signed Ryan Anderson. Now if only they can sign Leon Powe after this year...

by yellow fever on Nov 1, 2008 2:46 PM PDT up reply actions

Longshore setup for failure

Just as long as Tedford runs no throwing to the sideline plays for NL to get pick 6’ed, we should be ok. But when NL starts against USC and gets smashed its going to be setup for Riley to try to rescue us again.

by YleeXOtee on Nov 1, 2008 2:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Grrr. Good run by Oregon.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:48 PM PDT reply actions

They gave us one early. It’s ok

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:50 PM PDT up reply actions

Come on D, pick it up.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:50 PM PDT reply actions

they have abandoned the pass… stop this.. tackle

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 2:59 PM PDT reply actions

No, it wasn’t. Belotti’s pissed.

Thankfully that’s not reviewable.

Hard to imagine that it was 3 years ago that we found out he wasn’t asian.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:04 PM PDT up reply actions

Nice catch by Boateng, but many, that part of the field… ugh…

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:00 PM PDT reply actions

wow they are slapping around in puddles here…

by falseintellect on Nov 1, 2008 3:00 PM PDT reply actions

Wow, look at the field. Amazing how much water is out there

by LostRenegade7 on Nov 1, 2008 3:00 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah, that slapping from the puddles is loud

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:01 PM PDT reply actions

does the field have no drainage or anything? arent these artificial surfaces designed to prevent water from gathering like that? is it just the volume of rain…

nice answer to their drive…

by falseintellect on Nov 1, 2008 3:03 PM PDT reply actions

It should. Drains may be clogged?

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:03 PM PDT up reply actions

I wonder if this puddle-ly field is slowing down the pass rush. That may be part of the reason our backup OL is holding together.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 3:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh, nice background shot of Strada and courtyard by Boalt. I miss Berkeley.

by BoaltieBear on Nov 1, 2008 3:06 PM PDT reply actions

Same! It’s strange walking around the campus when I visit.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:07 PM PDT up reply actions

is it more fun watching games

when you dont care about the outcome?

god i hate watching cal games.

by falseintellect on Nov 1, 2008 3:09 PM PDT reply actions

hahaha i feel the exact same way

this isn’t enjoyment – this is a job.

by ch0ster on Nov 1, 2008 3:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Eh. I dunno, I tend to not care when it’s not Cal playing. Only if there are Cal alums. Though, watching Colt McCoy is pretty entertaining.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:10 PM PDT up reply actions

I seriously have never seen Syria have a better game

last year he was on and off… today he’s the best punter in the NCAA.

by danzig on Nov 1, 2008 3:10 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah he’s boomed those things. Draft stock has risen for him.

by BearsNecessity on Nov 1, 2008 3:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Nice up the middle run

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:12 PM PDT reply actions

cant believe

we just ran up the middle.. with this makeshift line we cant run right at them when they know it’s coming…

by falseintellect on Nov 1, 2008 3:13 PM PDT reply actions

I can’t wait for when Cal gets another big, goal-line type back. We’ve been mediocre in between the tackles. I heard we pulled in a 4 star prospect who should fit the bill.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Dasarte Yarnway. 220 lbs, I think

I’m hoping the D can clamp down on them like in the first half.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:17 PM PDT up reply actions

oregon adjusted since the half. cal's D hasn't.

UA game flashbacks. Ugh.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Oregon didn't bother passing

It seems like a good strategy for them.

by bear88 on Nov 1, 2008 3:16 PM PDT reply actions

They’re O line is pretty good. Good blocking from what I can tell.

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:17 PM PDT up reply actions

gregory has never been a great 2nd half adjustments coordinator

That sailing pass by Longshore…

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:21 PM PDT up reply actions

Our D needs to make a statement. Start punishing them for getting yards.

by Wham on Nov 1, 2008 3:22 PM PDT up reply actions

should have been a pick. nate evades his 2nd half reputation for now....

the defense

is falling apart… they are just running at will…

they have no passing game!! stuff the run

Lame call.

It's spelled "S-h-u-M-i-l-d-l-y-A-t-t-r-a-c-t-i-v-e"

Can’t stop the running game anymore. Damn

by BleedinBlue on Nov 1, 2008 3:24 PM PDT reply actions

One thing that is a big equalizer is how they mix up their running. Stopping the run is fine… but who’s got the ball?
