DBD 10.3.08 This one is ALSO for the ladies!
Let's get some more photos of man meat in here. Party time!

Oh, this DBD is getting so hot. I have the vapors! Marlon Brando is so dreamy!
via www.britfilms.tv
And finally, let's get some this giant pile of man muscle in here. You can thank me later, ladies:
Try to towel off and get back in the game, ladies, because these links are gonna be coming at ya fast and furious.
Everybody has heard that we're evaluating our quarterbacks, but that position is not the only one. We always look at every position, whether it be quarterback or safety or punter, and we want to put our best options on the field. All along I have said that we may need both Kevin Riley and Nate Longshore to contribute for us to reach our goals. We are in a great position in that we have two very talented players at that position, but we need to figure out which one will put us in a position to start faster offensively.
The other big news of the week is the injury to Jahvid Best. We have had excellent news so far on Jahvid. First of all, he did not break anything, as we were worried about during the game. Then we received the results of his MRI and there was no serious damage that would require surgery. It's still early, but we're cautiously optimistic that Jahvid could be back for the Arizona game. Having said that, we still feel very good about our tailback situation. Shane Vereen is a very talented player who can do everything you need from a tailback - he runs between tackles, he uses his speed and he is an excellent receiver out of the backfield. Tracy Slocum is a guy who is capable of filling in, as well, with no drop-off. We have always prided ourselves in having a stable of strong running backs and this year is no exception with Jahvid, Shane, Tracy, Peter Geurts and Covaughn DeBoskie.
Women's tennis is kicking butt:
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - No. 7-ranked California women's tennis sophomore Marina Cossou punched her ticket to the round of 16 at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships today with a three-set victory over No. 15-ranked Megan Falcon of LSU. No. 22 senior Claire Ilcinkas also pushed through to the second round with a three-set win over No. 23-ranked Katrina Tsang of North Carolina. Both players will have a chance to secure automatic bids to the ITA National Indoor Championships with wins tomorrow (Oct. 3).
Cossou took her first set, 6-3, but stumbled in the second, falling 6-2. Earning a break in the third, Cossou finished things off with a 6-4 win against a familiar foe in Falcon. The Bears faced LSU in the second round of the NCAA team championships last year, winning in a 4-0 rout. Cossou will move on toface No. 87 Ragini Achraya of William & Mary.
Article on Vereen:
BERKELEY — In the back of their minds, running backs Jahvid Best and Shane Vereen had to wonder about the implications of committing to Cal in the same year.
Saturday's game against Arizona State will demonstrate the implications it had for the Bears.
Best, the Bears' leading rusher, will sit out the game with a dislocated left elbow. Vereen, who has produced just about as well as Best when he's had his chance this season, will start in his place.
"It takes more than one back," Cal coach Jeff Tedford said. "We've proven that two backs are going to play here, and they're going to make strong contributions to this team. You need two backs, and they're going to get enough touches to contribute."
Best and Vereen both were considered top-25 recruits nationally when they each chose the Bears before the 2007 season. Best made the more immediate impression and played as a true freshman while Vereen redshirted the season.
Okanes has a LOT:
Sorry to disappoint you, but there is no quarterback news. Jeff Tedford said he is going to wait all the way up until pregame warm-ups to decide who will start Saturday’s game against Arizona State. He may know before that, but he won’t make it public, partly because he’d like to keep the Sun Devils guessing.
I know this, it’s impossible to tell from watching practice. For the third straight day, Kevin Riley and Nate Longshore took exactly the same amount of reps with the first team and second team. And they both have looked good, especially Thursday. It seemed like every pass was on the mark on all types of routes. Maybe competition really does bring out the best in everyone.
A couple of interesting developments along the offenisve line: Now that Mark Boskovich is the starting left guard, Matt Summers-Gavin is taking reps at that position with the second team. But the Bears also like Richard Fisher at that position, but Fisher has spent most of the season taking second team reps at center. Fisher is back to taking some reps at left guard, so the Bears have taken freshman Dominic Galas off the scout team to take some center reps with the second team.
ASU D wants more turnovers:
Where have all the turnovers gone?
That's one of the big questions for Arizona State's defense, which has yet to recover a fumble and in three of four games has gone without an interception. All three interceptions came against Stanford on Sept. 6.
The Sun Devils are 89th nationally in turnover margin (minus .50 per game) while California, their opponent Saturday, is 20th and first in the Pac-10 (1.00).
ASU Punter did hurt hand, but should be good to go:
Coach Dennis Erickson didn’t seem worried about the status of kicker Thomas Weber after Arizona State’s final practice Thursday before heading to Cal for its game Saturday.
“He’s going to wear what he’s got on there, which is a splint. He was able to punt, handle it. There wasn’t any bother of it today.”
Weber, a sophomore who last year won the Lou Groza Award for best kicker in the nation, was seen wearing a light splint on his left hand Wednesday in practice. It is believed he injured his wrist during ASU’s Sept. 20 game against Georgia.
Junior Mike Nixon, who has been racking up tackles at the linebacker position, is expected to start on the weak side for the Sun Devils and will be listed as ASU’s backup kicker should Weber’s left hand require more attention.
“He’s our backup. We always have to have a backup, a guy on the road in case something happens,” Erickson said.
So, there you go. I hope that the ladies love all that eye candy. All that beefcake.
We do it for you, ladies! Now, dump away! Wait, that came out wrong. Either way, if you see a link, put it below. GO BEARS!

I bet they will praise Nate for leading us all the way to the National Championship game. In fact, they are so busy polishing the giant, golden statue of Nate that they probably won’t be around to comment. Nate made them believers in a most triumphant fashion. They even converted to Mormonism too.

I have a FAQ that I made for my clients this past week and this is one question I get alot. You might want to take a gander:
Why do the Republicans and Paulson want to get rid of the oversight, golden parachute and equity upside provisions?
I know it seems like they’re corrupt and want to save their Wall St. buddies. That’s not true. The key to the bailout plan working is PARTICIPATION. We need as many institutions as possible to participate in the sale and prevent them from just sitting on the toxic assets to try to ride out the storm. Don’t get me wrong, oversight, compensation and equity provisions are good things… but if these provisions dis-incentivize the banks from participating, then the whole purpose of the bailout would be moot.
The Democrats are arguing that these banks will participate even with these provisions because they’re desperate. Frankly I can empathize with both positions and I don’t know which one is right. However, if all you want to do is increase the likelihood of the bailout working with full participation… then fewer provisions is better than more. But I can understand how distasteful it seems to write blank checks to the culprits of this mess.

honestly
The problem is the price that these guys are going to buy the problematic securities at. If a place like Morgan or Merrill got a price that they liked before, they would have sold it. They didn’t, which means they want more than they’re worth. So the only way these things sell is if the Fed pays more than they’re worth.
</SERIOUS BUSINESS>
I'm still wondering why the Nets didn't draft Leon Powe.

Exactly! Getting full participation is the key… you need to get these guys to sell these assets at a loss…or at least a modest loss…. the whole plan is moot if these bank CFOs think that they can ride out the storm and sit on these toxic assets…. if enough of them do that then all of them go down together. They need to free up their balance sheets so they can start recapitalizing and then start lending again.
I’m really curious how the reverse auction will be structured… in the bill it’s not specified at all… it just says Paulson can hire anyone he want to to set up the auction… right now there’s about a 100% chance it’s going to be Bill Gross and I’m sure he’ll do the smart thing.

There’s not really a better way to establish the price of those assets outside of a reverse auction, is htere?

the best way would be to do individual deals for each CDO… but since we can no longer trust the bond ratings this would take wwaaaayyy too long. We need to do a reverse dutch auction with no reserve… that woudl be ideal… but if we get rid of the reserve, then participation might be slim and we want full participation. Frankly I’m just going to trust Bill Gross to decide after he talks to all the bank CFOs… he prob won’t announce an auction structure until he knows it’ll work.
I thought we’d get clarification in the bill, but there’s no specifics… it just give Paulson authority to hire a team to decide at a later date how this is all going to work.
