So much for that token carry up the middle for Will T once a game.

Most of the regulars are at the game, I’m sure. I’d be at a bar watching the game myself if I didn’t actually come down with a fever yesterday. THE IRONY!

personally, I've got no problem with running up the score

It’s the offense’s job to score, and the defense’s to stop them. Just because you suck at what you do is no reason to make people have pity on you.

by YleeXOtee on Oct 25, 2008 4:10 PM PDT up reply actions

I agree. No mercy, and the losing team shouldn’t be hoping for pity points. If you’re getting schooled, take it and use as motivation to get better.

Besides, it’s not our fault our 2nd and 3rd string RBs are pretty damn good. Or… wait… would it be our fault? Hmm.

by BleedinBlue on Oct 25, 2008 4:29 PM PDT up reply actions

It’s one thing if you don’t have any problem with it, but “running up the score” doesn’t get any more blatant than that.

you’re talking about tedford here, the same coach who, back in ’04(?) had rodgers take a knee against southern miss on a nationally televised game, which made the final score look a lot closer than the game really was, and thus also potentially influencing the minds of poll voters to push texas ahead of us.

Really? You really want to say, “Yeah, the score differential would’ve been bigger if Cal didn’t take pity on us”? If I were you, I’d want Cal to run up the score. All the more motivation to get better and take it to us next year. I wouldn’t want any of this pity crap that you guys seem to be begging for. Tedford isn’t even the type to run up the score. See the end of the ’06 Holiday Bowl for reference.

Besides, Riley hasn’t played a complete game; he needs to develop a better relationship with his receivers. And, to be honest, Morrah being our leading receiver isn’t saying much.

by BleedinBlue on Oct 25, 2008 4:46 PM PDT up reply actions

yeah, honestly

I didn’t like that play action call too much, but the reason we kept running plays was to get our offense more reps. You saw our offense. It is, ahem, not great.

i still can’t see why slocum can’t get more touches between himself, best, and vereen. he’s so much more a between the tackles runner.

Yeah. I would like to see a package with Best at wideout and Slocum in the backfield.

by The Hombre on Oct 25, 2008 4:14 PM PDT up reply actions

We may see Vereen and Slocum 2 years from now if Jahvid gets the NFL itch early. This is less likely than Tha1 and Marshawn early exits, but I can see it happening if he busts out in a big way over the next 1.5 years….

I feel kinda bad because he could be the starting RB at Wash, Wazzu, ASU, UCLA, and possibly more. It’s pretty easy to see why Montgomery transferred.
