The Invisible Hand Of Syd'GOD Thompson
Well, we have another article at the Examiner. This one might not be breaking new ground for hardcore fans who follow the team, but we are, ostensibly, writing for a more general audience, who might not have really heard of Syd'Quan much. Read it and come back and discuss it in here. Go SydGOD and Go Bears!

Syd haz skillz
It’s easy to forget that Syd was out there against TN because Tim Mixon tore an ACL (I think) before the game. He was an obvious target, and I remember being pissed that Gregory did not use a coverage scheme to help him out, instead leaving him in 1-on-1 with a future NFL WR.
Why wasn’t Mixon granted a 6th year of eligibility?

because he used his redshirt season
basically, the NCAA says you get 5 years to play 4. you can lose a year to injury, or redshirt (including transfer), but not both. basically, the only way you get a 6th year is if you miss two entire years due to injury. mixon missed 1 3/4, or thereabouts (he was lost for the season in 2003 at Utah, about 3 quarters too late to get a 6th year).
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
true
but IIRC the Mixon injury wasn’t right before the game. it was like a week before, on a non-contact kick return, i think. yes, syd was tossed immediately into the fire, but he did have some time to prepare.
So, basically, you gotta Go Bears!
You guys scared me with that George Bush analogy for a minute there . . .
but then quickly redeemed yourselves by acknowledging he’s a douchebag.
Good write up though – even if you did just tell Arizona to throw to Hagan’s side of the field.
On a side note: does anyone know who has been on the offensive scout team running the spread? Any other info on how the D has prepared for the Arizona spread off?

maybe they brought back Dunbar for a return engagement
Still happy over the fact that the Nets signed Ryan Anderson. Now if only they can sign Leon Powe after this year...

Clearly, my hook worked. I got you in, thinking “Well, this is interesting, maybe he’s going somewher ewith this, better read further!”
And then BAM! I had you hooked.
PS Good call about the Arizona to Hagan thing. Better keep their O coordinator away from this site. They’ll never know!

Go ahead and throw to Hagan
Hagan’s developing into a solid corner, I’d love for Arizona to throw his way.
If Arizona runs the spread, does that mean we’ll see Conte and Cattouse on the field a lot this Saturday?

ASU didn't seem to listen
There were other past media mentions of Syd’GOD, and highlight reels, and ASU seemed hell-bent on throwing his way anyways. Not that it worked out so well for them. Let’s find out if AZ is paying any more attention and sticks with Hagan’s side.
Which allows Syd to blitz from the corner. GOD I love it when we blitz from the corner (and don’t get scored on, I mean).
